I keep slowing myself down by having an idea that I then need to go and research (so far corvids, Norse symbolism and the properties of pure metals)
Oooo Norse Mythology and symbolism is right up my street... Ravens, Runes, Berserkers and the nine realms etc
Hit me up if you need any pointers for research etcBUGGRITMILLENIUMHANDANDSHRIMP I TOLD EM! - Foul Ole Ron
It is important that we know where we come from, because if you do not know where you come from, then you do not know where you are, and if you don't know where you are, then you don't know where you are going. If you don't know where you're going, you're probably going wrong.

You have inspired me to give YNAB a proper go  Will do some playing around and hopefully get to grips with it for payday!Total Debt : ?? / ??0 -
Thanks guys. Unfortunately the writing stalled on Friday and Saturday so I didn't make up the deficit in my word count. The time wasn't completely wasted as I did research and have a better idea for the framework of the Corvid society and how and when it became linked to human mages (already got ideas for a prequel
). I got started again last night, plus a few more paragraphs on the train this morning. I already know it is clunky in places but I am resisting the urge to edit so I can get the story down on paper. (If I survive this November I will be planning next year's book ahead of time. 'Pantsing' is great when the words are flowing but slightly terrifying when they stop!!)
Bit of a spendy weekend. The BIL was visiting before he heads back to Australia, so additional food was bought, including a takeout on Saturday. All YNABbed though. Had to move some money between categories but still plenty in the kitty to get us to Friday which is payday for both me and Hubbles.
This week is no better. We have more guests arriving on Friday. Need to think of a food plan to cover 4 extra hungry men on Friday evening, Saturday breakfast, all day Sunday and Monday breakfast... I think the slow cooker may be pressed into service! Saturday they are out from late morning at the rugby so me and C will have a chilled out afternoon. Might get some baking done, or at least make up biscuit dough for the freezer. I have a couple of Xmas cake and biscuit ideas I want to trial.
Friday's pay will also mark the end of my Penny a Day tin for 2018. Will have at least £685 stashed in there to cover presents, social stuff and bits and bobs. Last year I had a surplus that was added back to the tin but I can't remember how much that was so anything over the targeted £685 is a bonus!
We still have enough meat in the freezer to get us to mid-December with mini shops but any savings will be applied to food and treats over the festivities. The booze bill will be minimal because a) we have quite a decent stock and b) we are both lightweights (today is my 58th dry day (and sugar free too!)).
Otherwise not much to report. I have a stack of leave still to take so have decided to book off the Fridays I don't already have as flexi-days.
Right. Back to the day job then.
Have a fabulous week.

Sounds like it's all go! £685 in the penny a day tin is great!
Everyone in my team at work has loads of hours still to take of annual leave but I have about an hour :rotfl: They're all struggling to put through days off as there's no availability but I was cunning and put everything I wanted through in January haha!
Well done on being sugar free! There's sugar in everything  I tried to cut down a while ago and had no success woops!Total Debt : ?? / ??0 -

Hi Lovely, thanks for dropping by.
I have 20,000 words, hopefully 22,000 by bedtime tonight, although I do need to do research for an interview tomorrow... Will all depend on whether I get a seat on the train. I can get 500 to 1,000 words written if I get a seat all the way. I'll still be about 16k off the mark but I hope to get 10k in tomorrow then I can pick away at the shortfall before a final push next Friday.
I would love to get the 50k target but even if I don't make it I have written more than I would ever have managed without Nanowrimo and I must say I have loved every minute. If I thought I could make money at writing I would give up the day job tomorrow!
Money came in last week and is YNAB spent. Must say it is all looking very good at the moment and Christmas will be done without a penny of debt being incurred AND I am managing the cc much better to take advantage of points without incurring interest (i.e. I am actually doing the 'pay it immediately' part of the process...).
We are continuing to reap the benefits of a freezer full of protein, especially as Hubbles has been away and will be again. Will need to get the turkey, etc. but not much more for the holidays so the food budget will not be hit by Christmas at all. Next year's challenge will be keeping it consistently under £70 a week. If I had more time I would do more OS hacks but I prefer to spend the time with family as I barely see them through the working week at the moment. It's all about priorities right?
Not much planned for my 3-day weekend. Job interview tomorrow, and there's the school fayre Saturday, driving on Saturday, housework and of course writing in between all that.
Have a great weekend everyone
