Morning lovelies. It's good to back to almost normal!

We had a FABULOUS holiday. Basically parked by the pool and baked (temp 33-44C) and read while the kids swam and splashed. It was a perfect recharge break followed by a week of pottering around the house before coming back to work.

Time to get back into the MSE groove and kick the CCs to the kerb!

Fair to say the weekend was NOT money saving (although it was Hubbles' money and not mine that was used) but it was a belter. Picked up last minute tickets to see Runrig on Friday and it was a great afternoon/night out - a rare treat to get time out without the kids too! Then Sunday was littlest's 6TH :eek:birthday and the last few bits of school paraphernalia needed to be bought.

I need to get back to surveys but time has been scarce to sit and fill them out recently. Hopefully now we are back to 'normal' I can get back on track. Hubbles thinks he might be able to BT the Tesco card and I can use the monthly payment to bring the balance down without any more interest! Hopefully find out if that is a goer this week. Once that is done the Tesco card will be fore groceries and petrol to get points and then paid off in full every week.

Anyways - not much to report. I need to shake things up so I get more visitors or I'll go mad(der) talking to myself! :rotfl:

Much more frugal long weekend. I managed a proper meal plan and a proper shopping list with no extras. I even made flapjack rather than stock up on granola bars for the kids’ snacks.

Generally feeling a bit ‘meh’ though. I know I haven’t committed properly to debt busting recently and have been a bit frittery with cash. Debts are still going down and we are living on cash available and not using cards so that is a positive. We do, however, have a house full of junk I could sell. I do have enough stationery or stickers not to need to buy any more for a year without running out… You get the picture.

I could use my diary better (maybe a new one with a new start?)

I am inspired by the people on here who do so much to pay debts whilst juggling to make sure their kids eat. That is not my reality. I was a daft wee lassie who wanted the nice shiny things. Sure, I was made redundant and I got into a position where I had to leave a job with nothing to go to because my situation was making me ill. But at no point did I really struggle because Hubbles was earning enough to manage the joint finances while I got sorted out. Now I fritter cash here and there - Like I just can’t get switched on to debt busting properly.
Sorry, that was a bit of mental diarrhoea. Like I said. Feeling ‘meh’… I'll go away now.

Got a cheque in the post for £29.99 yesterday and I don't know why... presumably something to do with surveys? No idea. I shall bank it and be happy :p

If we stuck to budget we would have a surplus each month so I need to drill down and see where we are overspending (food I suspect... £80 a week for food and domestic supplies for a family of 4, a cat and 2 gerbils should be plenty surely? )

Hubbles and I are going to sit and go through it tonight or tomorrow so we have a solid picture of where the cash is for September. This will be a HUGE change for us as I have had sole charge of the accounts until now. Hopefully starting to tackle this together will kick us into full debt busting mode. Has to be easier when we are both doing it right?

I am now a qualified First Aider!

Apparently this skill is recognised by a £5.10 per week supplement to my pay...
