It was the 3 amp fuse in the plug...why are you acting all superior about that! My 75 year old Granny can fix that with just a blunt kitchen knife!
I have found they tend to come with either 5amp or 13 amp fuses in the plugs from past experience :rotfl::rotfl:£4142.49/ £131,795.91 - 3.14% paid off or only £129,608.80 to go!

Measure the amount of data on the disk, if too much has drained away, the PC won't work. I was learnt that at Uni.

Granny knows both of the above are wrong though and always replaces them with the correct fuse when she first gets a new PC!0 -

Are you in the 'trade', if not what is a local chemist letting you lose on one of their computers for? There could be confidential patient records on it (I found a chemists PC in a backlane once, stuffed full of peoples addresses and prescription data), or if not, it could be networked, and you could install keyloggers, spyware, anything...
Not saying you would, it just does seem odd that a chemist would not think about the risks...[greenhighlight]but it matters when the most senior politician in the land is happy to use language and examples that are simply not true.
[/greenhighlight][redtitle]
The impact of this is to stigmatise people on benefits,
and we should be deeply worried about that[/redtitle](house of lords debate, talking about Cameron)0 -
I'd absolutely want to know who that chemist was - letting someone loose with all that potential data should have them struck off!0

I would say hardware is much simpler than software. It is all essentially plug and play once you know which bit goes with what and how it all bolts together.
Other than fans and the odd quirk (bent pins) there is little to go wrong.
Software on the other hand stands in front of you with big Clown feet and a squeeky nose taunting you until you get it right.
Are you a carpenter?I just get my PSU tester and it does the job for me in about 2 seconds
Not lazy, efficient
Definately more money than sense...:DAre you in the 'trade', if not what is a local chemist letting you lose on one of their computers for?

PSU Tester = £5.99 - eBay
Does the job, I don't see point in using multimeter unless I was intent on repairing the PSU itself because of failing electronics. Fair enough it may highlight a faulty fuse or something simple, but for the price of a new PSU your saving them what £5-10, and who's to say the existing one didn't have a fault that caused the thing to go bang in first place?Owner of andrewhope.co.uk, hate cars and love them

If you don't know what a multimeter is I suggest not wasting your time looking at the TECHIE page.Deleted_User wrote: »What does a multimeter do?A fool may give advice but the one who takes it is the bigger fool.0
