    ? You would've known the PSU was ok when you used the jumper to bypass the switch and everything worked (you said you used the test part before going to Maplin)

    It was the 3 amp fuse in the plug...why are you acting all superior about that! My 75 year old Granny can fix that with just a blunt kitchen knife!

    geeks dont shop at maplins.

  • maplins are expensive for what they sell - but good if your local (I couldnt get there and back to my local maplins in the 1h15mins he did the job in!

    Without knowing the symptoms, im guessing either the 5v or 12v rail where faulty (the most common fault I have come across with PSU's in the past 6 years.

    Fuse or the kettle lead I would imagine, but as for 'people should stick to what they're good at', it's nonsense. PC's are temperamental lego, nothing more - just parts that fit together in a certain way for a certain function.

    They do seem able to cause mass hysteria when something doesn't quite work right however :)
