we've had one crisis loan of £30, thats all we were entitled to. We have been living off of my maternity pay (£123 a week), the hold up is the people who process these things are obviously morons, we have had welfare rights advisors look at the claim umpteen times and each time we are told its sorted now, then they write another letter asking for yet more paperwork. Its hardly a complicated claim so I really dont understand it at all :mad:0 -

my bf pays the phone bill and its a DD out of his bank, it gets taken out at the end of the month and i dont think hes got any money left in it
Then you need to calm and not be dramatic
There is a huge difference between having your phone cut off and not having the money in the bank to cover the bill.
All you need to do is contact them if you cannot make payment (and if you will get a charge on your bank account for not being able to meet the direct debit cancel it).Cutting off happens after they have pestered you for a while and you have continued to accrue money owed to them without making a payment.I don't think you need to be worrying about that right now!
So that's that 'priority' gone
So no stress there eh! If women are birds and freedom is flight are trapped women Dodos?0 -

yeah we got a letter 3 weeks after we claimed saying they needed more info, wanted to see our books and last 2 pay slips but didnt have pay slips so had to provide bank statements
at least you have a little money coming in, we have nothing at all0 -
tinktinktinkerbell, there are many reasons that your claim will be with decision makers (a couple - *all* processors are technically 'decision makers' and you were being fobbed off, a decision needs to be made as to wether you were self employed or not)
The period you have had to wait is unacceptable. The idea that you have waited so long and should consider your bills to be not urgent is laughable.
I would write to the district manager with a very clear timescale for his or her reply, and then involve your MP0 -

thank you for the advice, we will do that as like you say its unacceptable0 -
well, phoned up today for yet another crisis loan of £100 (first one was £40) and the very nice woman said she would chase the benefit up and find out what the hell is going on
so she rang the benefit people and the woman said she would chase it up with the DMs to find out what the hold up is
so hopefully we shall have what we are owed tomorrow, about time too0 -
From my experience everything is send out in letters, so I don't think a phone is essential for your claim.0

its essential for ringing up and chasing up our benefit and for getting a crisis
