    Hi Mephista,

sending a hug and wondering how you are today. Seems like it's one step forward and two steps back for you at the moment!

Don't forget you can pay token payments of £1.00 if you need to until you are sorted and I agree with Mikon, stop beating yourself up, the banks colluded with you into getting into this mess - sometimes I wonder about taking them to court for a failure of duty of care!

For now, I think you're right, one day at a time. As Martin L says, there is always a solution where money is concerned....it will work out...

    Hi Ted

    Hi Mikon

What can I say? Thanks so much for taking the time to think about me in such detail and give me advice. I've had more support from you throughout this than I ever had from my ex and that wouldn't be hard. You have been an inspiration throughout this forum and I don't know where I would be without all your help. I will never forget that you were there for me.

As always your love and support is deeply appreciated and I'm glad you have been here to help me and at least help me feel that I am not alone with these horrible events which are currently taking their toll on me. I truly believe I am due a turn of luck sometime soon and yes, putting things into perspective was right and just and it did help. Unfortunately I still have to struggle with dealing with my own perspective and how the hell to get myself out of it.

    Thank you. :blushing:

I am only to happy to help you and if you want to talk privately send me a message. I am always around.

I bet like me you think to yourself how much more can I take and when is my luck going to change. If your like me It seems that I struggle from one problem to another and your right one day our luck will change. I know you have your own problems and you need to deal with them in your own way but remember we are all here for you. One way of dealing with your dilemma is to start looking at a review and reducing your monthly payments. The banks will have to understand. You need to live.

Keep me posted on the jobs front.

Remember I am here for you.

    Best wishes

  • Another F and F update guys, was talking to my mum re. success in DMPs and lo and behold she's offered me another £1200 to use, so going in with a £1400 offer to MBNA on a £4.7k debt (30%). Should be interesting as they accepted 38% for my other one. PP

What an inspiration you are. I am now going to research this avenue and start making some F & F my lowest debt is £60 so I might make an offer of £20 just to test the water my next debt is £467 so I am thinking of making an offer of £100 when I save the money up. You have helped me again to make a master plan on reducing my debt. I have defaulted on both debts and think they will be charged off in the next couple of months.

Prof PP could you tell me did you just use the template from the National Debt Line or did you create your own. Any help you can give is much appreciated.

  • Hi Mikon, try this:

    Name of Creditor
    Address of Creditor
    WITHOUT PREJUDICE
    Dear Sir/Madam
    Re: Account No/Reference No:
I write with reference to the money which you are claiming on the above account.
I can confirm that I am unable to offer to pay the money which I owe in full (Add details of your circumstances and financial situation). However, I can raise £ (put the amount which you can afford to pay) and I want to offer this as an ex-gratia payment in full and final settlement of the account. This offer is made on the clear understanding that, if accepted, neither you or any associate company will take any other action to enforce or pursue this debt in any way whatsoever and that I will be released from any liability.
I also request that, if accepted, you will mark any entry on a credit reference agency file relating to the above account as "satisfied" in full.
Payment can be made within (put the number of days or weeks within which you will pay) of receiving your written agreement of this offer and method of payment.
I look forward to receiving your reply.
    Yours faithfully

Morning HH, sadly not. The bank records the debt as a loss and can claim tax relief on it I think?
They will and can still collect on it, great for F and Fs though. PP

I only found out about Opus by calling them about another issue, I have no idea if any of the others have?
Don't know what to suggest really on this front, I suppose you could call and ask, but it might sound a bit weird? PP
