I'll get the napkins out, yum yum. If you'd have come back last week we could have had bigger slices, been very quiet here recently. Nice to see everyone popping back up. Nice to meet the newbies too though. Eh get me, like I'm an old timer. Actually quite excited to be going into my third month. I'll be Prefect next.
Hope everyone's well

Hi everyone - had my 6 month review with CCCS went okay they did want to reduce my payment but I asked to keep it the same. Dont want to upset creditors after only 6 months. I mentioned Halifax still charging me interest even though on statements it states next months interest will be zero. They suggested I ring them which I have already done and also write them a letter. So I'll try that and see if it helps because of my £90 a month payment £75 is interest!! Any suggestions on what to write

This is what I cannot understand about CCCS. They seem to leave all the letter writing to the individual and I know that the debts are our debts, but I just think sometimes they could intervene especially when we have tried. They could use the close working relationship they have with the creditors to work out a more positive solution.

I just (finally) emailed my new budget and income to CCCS. By my calculations, I will be increasing my payment by £7.00 per month!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Is it worth the trouble?

Hi Candypop, I'm in the same situation with Halifax, they told me I'm paying too much to qualify for frozen interest! They have put me on a one year plan and think I'll be back at work and able to resume normal payments. Truth is, my kids are all home educated now and that won't be changing. My middle one has a communication delay (hearing loss as a baby/toddler and other stuff) and I will not be putting him into school. Maybe I should tell them that? I don't normally make excuses but if they mistakenly believe my circumstances are changing, then they should be informed otherwise.
Are your circumstances likely to change for the better? If not, I would put that in the letter. Anyone else any ideas???Paddle no. 12

Hi Candypop
My review was the same, I kept our payment the same too. What did halifax say when you phoned them? Did they say you were paying too much or too little to have the interest cancelled? I'd use the letter from national debtline as a basis for a letter...will try and copy and paste it ...but still on dh's work laptop and it doesn't work like a real pc!!!
It won't let me open the letter - sorry - but its a good start if you can open pop-ups!DMP mutual support thread member 371LBM Jan 2010DMP Paddle No 20 -

Hi everyone
I'm new and about to join in! Finally had the lightbulb moment and waiting to arrange a DMP with CCCS for the £19600 (gulp!) that I've been trying to get rid of. Thankfully I'm not in TOO dreadful a position just yet as I can keep on top of payments, but the debt isn't going down which makes me think that its going nowhere without help.
Annoyingly I had a phone appt with CCCS tonight and was sitting in the one part of the house where i can get mobile signal, all ready with a beautifully constructed spreadsheet - formulas and everything...(i was so proud! lol!)
I waited...and waited...and waited and no phone call. Eventually I called them and it turns out that my %*&@ phone didn't pick up the call even though it was displaying that it had signal. So now I have to wait for another 2 weeks until I can get another appt. Totally fed up and there's no one to blame except the local mobile mast (not that satisfying) and myself (for creating the mess in the first place!)
Thankfully I wasn't wanting to start this until Sept at the earliest so it hasn't changed much but i was SO looking forward to the call tonight to get everything moving.
How is everyone else finding the DMP? I'm still not quite sure what to expect when you're facing the reality of being in one! Mine will last somewhere between 3 and 5 years i think.I like pigs. Here's a suggestion.....
Dear Sir/MadamRe XXXXXXX – DMP CCCS XXXX
Thank you for statement of June 2010 concerning the above account. I am sorry that you have not felt able to suspend interest charges. The majority of my other creditors have agreed to the offer of payment and agreed to suspend any interest charges still accruing. They have accepted that to continue to charge interest would not assist me in my present financial difficulties, and can only serve to increase the total debt.
As you are aware, I have already paid considerable sums in interest to the account. If interest charges continue, the monthly installments I am paying will barely cover that interest. Also, the cooperation of the other creditors who have agreed to freeze interest already would be put at risk.
I have now made three payments to the debt management plan I am running with CCCS (XXXXXXX) and I would therefore be grateful if you would reconsider your decision not to freeze the interest. This would mean that the monthly payments we make would actually reduce the balance outstanding to your company.
Should my circumstances improve we will contact you again. Thank you for your assistance. I look forward to hearing from you as soon as possible.
Yours faithfully

Welcome to the thread Fortune. Do you know you don't neccesarily have to talk through it with CCCS? I just used the CCCS debt remedy online tool for a quote then found a supply / submit type button and did it all electronically. Have to admit I hadn't seen it there before all the months I had been playing with the idea. I had everything set up within a few days, it was great service. I know how frustrating it can be when you want to get one night closer to not having that really awful feeling in the pit of your tummy, you just want to get on and start sorting don't you?
Good luck, let us know how you get on
