OK, after many years of career regret I have decided to study for a BA (hons) in Fine Art with Open College of the Arts. Each module costs £595 but there is the option of paying about half as a deposit and 6 monthly payments by direct debit. I suppose this is counted as applying for credit? And I suppose there will be a credit check? Anyone know?

I imagine they would credit check you, you may be OK cos the defaults (if you have any) might not be showing yet. I think it takes some time for them to appear. Thing is you aren't supposed to take any credit on a DMP, so I would keep it very quiet.

    Hi everyone

I guess I am the only one with something to report on the DMP front. So here goes.

Received a Default notice from Argos stating that if I did not make a payment of at least 4% of the minimum which equates to £2 within 14 days then the debt would be handed off to a DCA. Prior to this I received a letter from Argos saying they had accepted my offer of £8 per month so I was a little confused especially as the Default Notice was dated 8th June. Anyway I contacted them and they said "your on a DMP with CCCS and we have accepted the offer so just ignore this letter and any other letters you get, we are happy with the offer of £8 so do not worry". So I guess its just a computer generated letter that goes into my filing tray.

Still waiting to hear from CITI and Barclaycard.

Down side of this weekend was that I got Virgin HD installed for the England Match and what happens ITV HD drop a clanger and put an ad on when England scored their first goal so i missed it and then they took the HD off. I might write and seek compensation.

Hope everyone is well and is enjoying the World Cup.

    Regards

Mmmm, I would prefer to try and save the money for the first module, then begin a savings pot for the next one. Thing is, the deposit covers the cost of all the materials so, technically, the rest is "tuition"

    Hiya

Received a phone call from Santander Loans today asking for money. So I said CCCS.

They hadn't heard from CCCS! However the account has now gone on 30 days hold while CCCS contact them again.

    The rollercoaster continues.

I don't think that this is unusual, it amazes me how these banks actually make money when different depts can't communicate with one another.
Have started the ebay mass sale as well, DVDs, sunglasses, pictures, etc, etc. Its quite surprising how much you can get for them and it all adds up. PP

And I think Santander is one of the worst for communication as well! As I have posted previously, we got 15 letters from them over the course of 2 weeks - 7 of which were default notices - all on the same account - for slightly varying amounts of money. And ALL from the same department!!! (many of them from the same person according to the letters!

Once i've been finished with Music Magpie for my cds then its Ebay for my assorted stuff. I've only ever sold a few bits n pieces before now (cds funnily enough) so I need to get my self organised. Even if I make a few £ it all helps towards my emergeny fund.

Hello, fleeting appearance as mad busy...ljm23k, I would check this out as it may be the same as paying for car insurance monthly or your tv license........you are not buying something and paying for it later you are paying as you go, if you stop paying you won't be able to continue... just a thought!

I agree, it's almost like a career development loan and I don't think that is really registered as taking credit. I would look into it ljm?

Yes, I agree Tedsd and PP. I do pay the TV license by DD, I never thought of that as credit so this would hopefully be the same. We'll see how I get on with saving the deposit first but, ideally, I would like to be able to pay for each module at the start.
