Can I just say that people saying they wouldn't vote Conservative because of Thatcher seems to me like saying you wouldn't go to Germany because of Hitler. She has been gone 20 years now! Now she's just a sad old woman with dementia. Most of the people who are voting for the first time this time weren't even born when she was PM, yet I still say they won't vote Conservative because of Thatcher! Barmy! Isn't it more likely that the Conservatives have learned from that : the old "power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely" thing?

Probably also a lot of unemployed civil engineers looking for work, Nikki. Or maybe he should just have been allowed to say that his aspirations meant that call centre work was ok and forget the CE degree?

He presumably now owes tuition fees, which presumably on £16.5K he will never pay back and they will be waived. How much money wasted when it looks like he is happy in a call centre? Makes me mad!

He actually wanted to be a civil engineer. No one forced him to do it.

The limit for repaying student loans is 15k so he is paying it back albeit slowly.

M&P - I feel it will be a long night!! UP for a chat later??

Babymoo - Glad to see you!! But BNP??? I feel for you.... I think Jo has it right, they are adding policies that appeal rather than having policies that will make a difference.... I am an immigrant (granted an EU one) and I have paid taxes when I worked enough to pay tax and will again. I have two children who are dual nationality (Irish and English). My OH is English and pays a lot of tax. I pay tax whenever I buy something. I am a voluntary school governor and may become a parish councillor when a seat arises. From a foreigners point of view the BNP has nothing to offer the country, they are ill advised, bigoted, homophobic, racist (until recently even I wouldn't have been allowed to join their party even though I am white) and are generally thugs hiding in sheep’s clothing. I urge anyone that is thinking of voting for them to research them as much as possible.
    Please read this....

I'll probably be around a bit tonight. Planning on watching the first few results, then maybe napping for a bit, then watching from about 3 when they start coming in thick and fast. Normally by about 4 there's a pretty good indication of how things are going. I need to be at work tomorrow though, so I need some sleep at least.

mambury a reply to your link. i read that along with others as well. but please remember that wikipedia as well can be edited by anyone at any time. That given that a lot of that content is correct but some can be of views of people as well. Like i been saying everyone has their rights, views, circumstances and opinions and each as valid as the next. Thats the thing (about the only thing these days) that makes britain great.
