My honest opinion - it makes my heart sink that anyone would vote for the BNP. I am old enough to remember their former incarnation, before they put on smart suits to become voter-friendly. They do NOT have the interests of the British people at heart, they are manipulating fears to gain votes.hhhonlyfan wrote: »hey all seems like i started a decent debate going. totally agree with you about going from quiet town to drink and drug fuelled town. its the same here. im lucky the party i voted for has a candidate here and i honestly dont mind what people think here is i voted for BNP and theres quite a few policies i dont agree with of theirs but i believe in national service, death penalty and being treated like i should be in this country (im 25 by the way and 26 in 2 weeks so i would still come under the national service area if they did come to power which is highly unlikely). I mean 2 years ago we were being thrown out of our house as landlord wanted to sell up and no one in housing office could offer us anywhere to stay at all. Even to this day we never got an offer and i was lucky my job at the time overpaid me enabling us to scrape enough money to move. The debt on my DD heads im really worried about as well. I never EVER want to adopt the euro. Just feel disillusioned with all the major parties and i believe that immigration is a major cause of that me. I mean if i went to pakistan, iraq or anywhere else where immigrants come from toour country we would have to abide by their rules so why are they allowed to come over with little or no english have our country their way and get more help. It wouldnt happen if we went over there. Thats just my views. Yes i truely believe by the way drugs laws need looking at as they are not working but the dutch have had 30 plus years now to get it right and we are just not ready to take their way of life and i would truely love it if we could become like them (not just the drugs but their transport is top class as well)0

they set up schemes like WTC and CTC - and basically make you jump through hoops to try and apply for it - then when you do and it needs renenwing - send you another pack of hoops to jump through
Not that I'm admitting to working for tax credits but the system has improved greatly over the years.
TBH I would vote for any party who will help support families and help further education (ok I'm in Scotland to uni wise we have a better deal but still)
Maybe not SNP as they want to make Scotland independant which would probably cause more problems than anything. But they do have a good education bit in there manifesto.
I'm thinking monster raving loony party??:rotfl:0 -
I am totally anti the death penalty. Was in Amnesty International in my younger, more radical days, but honestly the things I learned about the death penalty in the US were just horrendous. No way I could support it.
I have a problem with secondary education, so I suspect Nikki and I will disagree big style on this. This aim of - is it 60%? - of school leavers going to uni. Just ridiculous! We as a country spend gazillions on getting a stupid high percentage of kids to go to uni, but no way are 60% of the jobs available degree-educated jobs. We end up with the best-educated McDonalds employees in the world. Kids are built up to expect to go to uni, which raises expectations of what will be available out there and it just isn't!
I drove into town today to go to the bank etc. and I drove under a big sign imploring school-leavers to go and study motor sports at the local college. So they imagine working for Ferrari or Maclaren and rubbing shoulders with Jensen Button and whoever (sorry don't follow it!). But realistically, how many jobs are available in motor sports? Are they training up another load of kids to become disillusioned and go and work in Tescos.
BTW not dissing McDonalds or Tescos employees, just used for illustration!0 -

I disagree that people should be made to go with uni, however if it is something that a person wishes to do I don't think that they should be hit with ridiculous fee's for it.
I've got a cousin with a honours degree in civil engineering. He works in a call centre. There has been plenty of civil engineering jobs advertised but he won't get off his lazy !!! to apply THEN he moans that theres no jobs available. Call centre job - £16500, civil engineering £40k plus round our way.
Sometimes there are no jobs and some times people are like my cousin - so laid back that there horizontal!!
I realise that many people have different veiws on politics which is why I'm glad we live in a democracy. Although if martin went for government he'd get my vote.

Probably also a lot of unemployed civil engineers looking for work, Nikki. Or maybe he should just have been allowed to say that his aspirations meant that call centre work was ok and forget the CE degree?
He presumably now owes tuition fees, which presumably on £16.5K he will never pay back and they will be waived. How much money wasted when it looks like he is happy in a call centre? Makes me mad!0 -

hugs Jo, sorry you feel rotten again. boiling water with a splash of vics/olbas oil always helps me a little - not for long enough but gives a bit of relief, or a very hot shower...I am sure you know / have tried etc but I don't know how else to help youLife is a work in progress0
