Hi all, I've been here reading but not posting too. Feel a bit like a fraud at present as I've had to work so hard on main business that the jewellery has come to a complete stop - not so much as touched it for nearly 2 months. I guess I should be glad that I'm really busy, but this thread always felt like it was for new ideas rather than expanding old ones, so it feels a bit odd joining in somehow. (Overthinking it maybe)
The move to the new venue has been broadly good. A few moans about parking (the vast majority from my member of staff that complains a lot LOL) but a lot of interest from the town we are now in and any customers that dropped out because of the move have been pretty much replaced now. A lot of interest in our expansion in September too. I am starting to flounder on the paperwork front - I always used to take stuff in to do in quiet classes and let the staff get on with the kids while I did admin - but there aren't many quiet classes now so I'm wondering if I need a new member of staff one day a week so I can have a day to get stuff done. I've resisted doing it before as I am still the main driving force/salesperson and I don't want that day to suffer from me not being as actively involved iykwim. Whenever I start to struggle I remind myself that every 10 new kids is an extra £1500 on the bottom line!
Today's jobs are getting my seedlings out into the garden. Toms and peppers haven't done much, so may get a few tom plants from Homebase, but I have french/dwarf/runner beans, courgettes, butternut squash, pak choi, patty pan squash and a bunch of other stuff ready to go out. Need to check my seed packets again as I know there were a couple I put to one side as too early to sow, and I don't want to forget about them entirely. Also want to put in more pak choi and lettuce today so I have some successional planting going on.
The fruit is going great guns in the front garden and I have some rhubarb ready to pull.
As for my save £1 today that could be tricky as unless I get compost and toms from Homebase it will be a NSD today. Does eating my own rhubarb instead of getting it from Tesco count LOL.
Right, gotta get moving or I'll sit on the PC all day.0 -
Hi 2cats!!! nice to hear from you, this thread has gone waaaay beyond new businesses in fact its lovely to hear that someones making a success of things its great inspiration! well done and I'm glad the move went well in the end :-)0

OK, it was bugging me that I couldn't think of a way to save even £1 today (rhubarb doesn't count - would have done it anyway) and I've decided to give a try to making little pots out of newspaper rather than buying more peat pots for my veggie seedlings. Those peat pots are stupidly expensive, so if I can master making them myself I will save a few £. Thanks for the kick up the backside.
Oh and since I posted a few days ago I've been accepted by tasteradar, so that's £25 free fruit and veg a month. Kerching!0 -
2 cats use your egg cartons £1 saved and no messing unless you dont eat eggs lolSo finally debt free and it feels amazing however continuing here to stay debt free.Next declutter house and body and finally swim under that waterfall x0

just saved my pound by selling my wiifit to my sis instead of on ebay saving listing ,final value and paypal fees...yay!0

I have really thought hard about saving my pound today as I have no real money to go out and spend anyway and not going out anywhere lol. So to save my pound, I have turned off all sockets I am not using and nothing is on standby.
As I am on an electric meter in this flat, this is also probably a very good and conscious habit to get into. What a great idea and thank you JO!I am somebody. I am me. I like being me. And I need nobody to make me somebody! Louis L'Amour0 -
To save my £1.00 today I will walk to the local gym instead of driving (unless I go to the fitness class instead because that would be a 10 mile round trip eek!!!)0
-
lol nikki, if you walked it you certainly would not need the fitness class afterwards!!I am somebody. I am me. I like being me. And I need nobody to make me somebody! Louis L'Amour0
