I'm shattered! I've decided this year is when the garden gets sorted out. When we moved in I threw a load of plants at it and they are now way too close together and getting scraggly, so I am cutting back and moving as much as the size of the green bin is allowing. Actually being constrained by the green bin is pretty good as it will stop me overdoing it, hopefully. So today I've cleared and dug over another patch and moved a fatsia japonica to a new location - only about 3 feet away from where it was, but it was too close to another bush where it was. It's a pretty tough old plant so with luck it will survive and if not then I'll hoik it out and put something else in.

I've also put out runner beans, patty pans, pak choi and romaine lettuce, and put lettuce, radish, carrot, beetroot, chard, spinach, nasturtium and marigold seeds in. And I've put in some more tomatoes as 2 or 3 have come up but they are weedy little things. One pepper has come up so hopefully there is hope for the rest of them.

And the dandelion wine that I started this week that was a vile sludge brown up till now has changed overnight to the most gorgeous orange colour. It looks like orange tango fizzing away in the demi john. I am tempted to go and get another bucket load of dandelions to do another batch, even though taking the petals off was totally boring! Wine making is like a big chemistry experiment that you can do in your kitchen - it's great fun!

Wow dandelion wine sounds delicious - well, the wine bit! Are they dandelions from the garden? What do you have to do?
