Hi everyone sounds like a busy busy day. its great to see Em, 2cats and Joey back. missed you all.
I did save my £1 today. took a sandwich and yoghurt instead of getting from the cafe shop.
I don't always buy from there but making lunch today meant going to the spar shop to buy some margarine before I could do it so was very tempted not to bother.
sounds like we've saved a good few pounds between us today. Yay:T
don't suppose my glass of white wine will help save me pounds on my waistline. but hey;)
will catch up properly in a little bit.

ho folks - how is everybody? i havent had time to read back yet - havent been on for over a week - been a bit unwell and then really busy. Have built a website, ordered business cards, company t shirt and bag, pens, magnetic thingy for the side of the car, put free add in gumtree, set up company email. Seems a bit too real now and thats me beginning to doubt my abilities - one of my downfalls is i worry what other people think - probably being a twin is where it stems from even all these years later. then i think "Bu**er everybody else" none of the dragons ever made money worrying about what people thought. Sorry am rambling a bit.
so whos been doing what? - elly noticed in a quick flick you have moved - hope everything went smoothly (or as smoothly as possible when moving)
catch up hopefully later, enjoy your eveningskintbint x

I went to a patch of waste ground near my house as however many you have in your lawn it won't be enough! And they need to be away from exhaust fumes, ideally.
I picked about half a bucket of flowers, then you have to pull all the petals off as the green bit makes it bitter. There are several recipes, but the one I used, you take all the petals and put it in a bucket or similar (sterilised, of course - I have a plastic container I use for this sort of thing) and pour boiling water over them. Leave this for 2 days. It really looks gross! LOL. Then you take the rind of 4 oranges (done really thin so no pith at all, as that makes it bitter too) and boil the rind up with the dandelion gunk for a while. Then filter the liquid off, add the juice of the 4 oranges and dissolve about 2.5lbs of sugar in it. Leave to to cool, whack it in a fermentation jar/demi john with some yeast and an air lock on it and leave it to go. It has to ferment right out, and when it clears you rack it to get rid of any residue. I'll probably end up racking it 2 or 3 times before bottling.
You need to leave it at least 6 months and preferably a year plus, so I'll do a quickie batch of orange wine next to tide me over till the blackberries and stuff are out on the heath. Blackberry wine - yum yum!! Trouble is, that takes a year to mature too. Last years mixed hedgerow (blackberry, elderberry, rose hip, damson, crab apple and pear) is drinking beautifully now, so I'm rationing it for fear of running out too fast!
As I say, I'm tempted to do another gallon, but boy is it boring pulling the petals off!
It does look beautiful now though - I can hardly believe how it has changed from looking really vile to a pretty orange colour.
And the best thing is, it works out at less than 50p a bottle - hic!0 -
Em, how lovely that a broody hen is sitting on your duck eggs somewhere.
It hasn't put me off although a little more hesitant as I know we have at least 1 local fox which got some chickens on our street.
If you do still do the blog I would really love to read it.
Enjoy your fish and pinched chips!!

Hi Joey - welcome back x
syn free - well I'm going along with my wife's eating plan from slimming world and they have red/green days and extra easy option which combines the two. each day your allowed so many syns/sins ? not sure which but your limited to ten or so a day. depending on which plan you follow you have to count syns. a syn free meal is something you can eat as much as you want of. At least that's how I understand it.
Anyway, we didn't have spag bol tonight unfortunately as the mince was bad so we opted for spicy pasta, something I made up. It's a big hit with OH but a bit too spicy for me as she loads it up with jalepenos. so have swapped them around on my plan and need to get some mince in.

Timescale on this batch so far is picked dandelions Monday, did the orange peel bit Wednesday and put in demi john, struggled a bit to get going Thursday/Friday, was fermenting like a good 'un Saturday and is looking lovely Monday. So this time next year I'll be drinking it LOL.0

2cats - wow i don't think i've got the patience for that but it sounds delicious - i love the sound of the mixed hedgerow.
