I suspect that "no battery eggs" will not all too often follow through to "happy to have none", but I might be wrong -
what does the bit I've quoted above mean Allegra, I've been reading it outloud to see if I can get it but I think I've got too many negatives or the wrong emphasis or something(blame the cheese rinds!)

I tried mince with oats in for the first time last night and it was nom! Have been a bit nervous of trying them before after trying mince with lentils and not liking the texture.
The oats gave the mince a lovely creamy richness which went beautifully in the lasagne I was making. Also managed to make it about 1/2 and 1/2 veg to mince, by cutting the veg very tiny with one of those cutters where you whack the top to cut the things under neath ( called a slap-chop here ). This fooled ds2, the veg averse one, enough to get him to eat it, even though it had at least 3 veg in it he "doesn't eat". Sneaky I know, but sometimes justified.
I'd also like to thank whoever it was in the original thread who posted a recipe for lasagne, this was my second attempt, and no one noticed ( in a goodway) that it was homemade. I cant believe how simple it is too do, a bit slow to roll but simples.

What, you can't see inside my head to make sense of what I'm saying ? Poor show, Weezl ! :rotfl:
I think I meant that people who voted for free range eggs as their non-negotiable quite possibly didn't realise that this would mean no eggs at all.0 -

Also, I hope this doesn't offend anyone on here, but I kinda think it's a weird non-negotiable WHEN IN REAL HARDSHIP. Please hear me out!
What I mean is that starving people will eat almost anything. And do almost anything.
If people were saying, the health of my children is my non-negotiable. Then I can see that, and I think you do see examples of this in famine situations where a mother will feed a baby to the point of her own starvation.
I am really suprised by someone who would lay down their life for an animal though.
And I don't mean to sound animal hating by saying that. Just that I value humans more!
eeep! I expect everyone will throw rocks at me now*ducks*

Made the vegan risi e bisi tonight and I am stuffed. I was hungry when I got in though and made some brazil nut, peanut and pumpkin seed butter and had some of that on a slice of granary bread to keep me going until the risi was cooked. I cooked it as per recipe and didn't add any extra veg, as I had had the nut butter starter. It did look very pale though, I am used to lots of colour in my meals. I had halved the recipe, so as there was only me eating, the one portion that is left, I am going to half again and add in carrots and red pepper to give it some colour when I have that. It was ok, put a stange meal for me, like mushy peas and rice with a bit of other flavour. Its not one I would keep, I don't have to be that frugal, but I think its ok as a frugal meal for the planner and very filling.
I will post a pickie on my site tomorrow and I will then let you know what I did for the nut butter, have to go now. Only got 10 minutes tonight.
Can I look over your latest shopping list for the vegan planner to see if its all vegan as before?
Thanks
Sandra

hi, is there a main meal list for the vegan planner?0
-
Had the cottage pie tonight waaay too much for 2 people could easily have fed 3 but it was lovely. I added a bit of worcester sauce as i was afraid of the sweet taste of the chilli night but it was fine and ex didnt even notice that there was ready brek in it so we are making progress. We will be happy to taste test a few of the meals in the other planners but there in not a chance of ever trying out the planner in full im afraid:(. Day 11 and all is well in chez shanks:j0

Shanks I'm noticing you need more in the days and less at night than this planner is giving you. Is there a way you could take leftovers as part of lunch in some way?
