This thread (and all the related ones) has kept me busy all afternoon! Thanks Weezl et al - threads on the old style board move too quickly for me to keep up with, but I'm subbing to this one so that I can at least try to keep up with you all.0

I made the brazil nut, peanut and pumpkin seed butter based on your pumpkin seed butter recipe, substituting 100g of the peanuts for brazil nuts. Basically because I had just enough peanuts and pumpkin seeds to make a quarter batch. I don't know if this will be the best ratio for plan 3 and I will restock on ingredients if you want me to test a different ratio. Its 148g of brazil nuts per week for 4 to get all selium requirements, but we wouldn't have to be exact, we can hope there is small amounts in the veg, as UK soil contain very little selium, rather than is depleted. Not sure how much we would be using it and how many time you made this on the other plan.
Anyway the full batch would be:
100g brazil nuts
300g salted peanuts
150g pumpkin seeds
70mg veg oil
I started by grinding the brazil nuts, then added the peanuts and pumpkin seeds. Once ground I added the oil and stirred in, until fully mixed.
Let me know if you want me to try a different version. Me and my mum liked it. I also gave it to my dad and he hasn't said he didn't like it. I was going to take some to my BIL who is vegan, but forgot it, may take it up tomorrow.
Had some more cold risi e bisi tonight as a starter, whilst I was cooking tea. I really like it, so I will make it again, just so I can have it cold!!!

does anyone have the ingredients or willingness to test run a planner 2/3 snack recipe?
swede and onion cloddies
1 very small onion 65g chopped very finely or grated
100g swede chopped very finely or grated
200g SR flour
salt and pepper
1/2 tspn garam masala
40ml oil to mix (plus 15ml to fry them in)
a little mustard powder/chilli garlic if you feel it'd benefit from it
a few spoons of water (to make a stiffish dropping consistency)
mix together to form a dropping consistency.
fry tablespoon sized splats
I think you get a batch of 8-10 and if it goes pear shaped you've wasted only 22p:money:
I will give this a try tomorrow. I shredded a swede yesterday and put it in the freezer in small bags so less work.0 -
Hello one and all!
think i have some swede frozen so i will gladly defrost it and make to cloddies to try.
Made the chicken and onion pie (even though i cheated with the meat) and it was lush. The pastry was really light and fluffy, So definitely will be cooked again, on a regular basis. We had it with mash and leftover veg from yesterday.
Right going to watch some tv after a very stressful day and chill out for a bit with OH0 -
I have a bit of time tomorrow...which is actually today now
I am going to try the tomato/lentil pudding later
I dont have any olives in, as I dont like them
But I think I will either use some mushrooms, or courgette instead...as they are in already
Ok... bedtime0 -
here is a message to sian the green from acetate monkey (aka Mr weezl):
'Hello! I really like your biscuits. I think they may be too nice.:o How on earth do you find the discipline to freeze a batch?!'

thanks potty, and grandma247 and kezlou, I look forward to all your verdicts!
Potty that's interesting, murrell doesn't like olives either....
I included them because I think of them a bit like how I think about bacon in a meaty dish, something that's got a strong flavour and is a bit luxurious as a way of pepping something up.
But if folk don't like them, I wonder if I can find another little something to add a bit of va va voom?

Capers might do the same job, but then if you dont like olives you probably dont like capers either :-S.
Maybe roasted red pepper. They add such depth?
ps I would have sent you a parcel of lovely things too, but your pms still arent working it seemsEat food, not edible food-like items. Mostly plants.0 -
