An update on the risi e bsi , not sure if this useful or not but i'll tell you anyway.
OH had some risi e bisi last night, he loved it, called the kids savages for NOT liking it.
Anyway i tried a spoonful of his and it was really nice. So what i'm thinking is if i leave the risi e bisi so settle for an hour then warm it up it should be a lot nicer, like OH's was. em i was also very hungry, so i don't think the flavours had time to settle, also didn't fancy any carrot cake.
So yes it will be eaten next time on the planner. Also i have a tub full of it to go in the freezer ready for next time.

The main thing i'm quite surprised about is how big the portions are for all four of us. Not once has my Oh complained about being hungry . So weezl, pat on the pack love your doing a great job.:T:T:T

    porridge
It tastes really nice and much the same as when i use milk. DS1 , your going to get a shock, had two massive bowlfuls!!! AND none of them asked for jam!!!!!!!:rotfl:so very pleased with that.
OH didn't have any but they is a small portion left for him tonight if he's still hungry.

Last weekend i didn't buy a chicken, or make pizza as money was tight, yet again, so made stuff from the freezer. Sorry about that.

    Tip
Oh and another tip, em i ran out of lemon juice :o so i used amchur powder (powered mango) instead. It tastes just like lemon so thought i'd post it. Oh and best of all, if your allergic to citrus amchur powder is fine to digest as its mango !:T

Allegra Thanks for the info about the splitting bread. I'll have to keep an eye on it next time. I haven't been greasing my tins. When DH has done bread in the past he hasn't needed to so I didn't bother.
I have some Frylight from my Slimming World days that I use so I'll give that a go.

Does the recipe he uses contain oil though ? All the ones I used in the past do, which might provide an explanation - if there is oil in the recipe, the dought should be "greasy" enough in itself not to need the tins greased. As the frugal recipes don't contain oil, they will need a bit of grease to keep them from sticking to the tins.

    Hi guys

I think I am going to have to buy a loaf of bread later:o:(

Mine is nearly all gone (thanks to mr arty) and I haven't got time to make more atm due to some bad news at work today:( and an upcoming job interview I need to prepare for next week:). Also I really dont like it so have been avoiding eating it.

Mr arty and I have discussed it and we think if we do this we will use the lunchtime pate etc.. up and so still be quite close to the planner. Otherwise I think we will pretend to each other we are eating it and end up buying lunch which is not frugal.:o

Our local shop reduces all bread about 6'o'clock to about 20p so it will add only a very small amount to my budget and I will try to make bread again in a few days time.

Um.....so.....yeah..just thought I would let you know.
    Please dont be angry:eek:

I've been at Uni today and my sandwich and cake worked well. I also had the apple curd on toast for breakfast and I came home and had some toast with nutty butter on...yum, yum!

I'm doing the risi e bisi that I cooked and froze yesterday for tea tonight cause DH won't be eating so seems like a good time to try it on the rest of the family.
I'll let you know how it goes.

I'm currently doing a Business Foundation Course arty.

I'm hoping to start a degree in Finance & Accounting in September..but I am struggling to juggle it all. I really don't know how other people do it!

Wow that sounds like a lot of work. Cant believe you do that and look after a big family too.

At least if you talk to people about finance you will be able to tell them how to be uber frugal:rotfl::D

good luck with the interview arty!
frankie:- good luck with the degree

Quick question - just made the chilli and it tastes really sweet. I added the carrots, i normally make chilli like this anyway but with more tomatoes, beans and beef stock cubes.
Has anybody else ran into the problem? Is it supposed to taste sweet?

kezlou I found it sweet when I made it too. I thought it was either the carrots or the large amount of onions.
When I make it tomorrow I was not going to add the carrots and put in a few less onions, I'm hoping that will make it less sweet.
Could it be the garam masala?
