I had a friend here last night who was amazed that I had fed a family of 5 adults for £100 a month. He spends £100 on just himself.
IIRC based on the figure on CFR he is about average.

"Healthy" means such different things to different people that it is a bit of a nebulous word IMO. I also agree with whoever said that having a "healthy" column implies that some planners will not be "healthy".

Me & DD were sad when our Wimpy Bar closed! :o It was where we went for an occasional naughty treat. Although it is mostly burgers etc. it is cooked to order, with waiter service, served on proper crockery with proper cutlery. Get a little pot of tea with a cup & saucer, or a mug of coffee, or a glass of soft drink.

Happy Eater was a roadside chain, very much like Little Chef & taken over by Little Chef years ago.

Just a quick update on the tasks posted yesterday/today

Task One: calculating the five-a-day information for Kitty's
planner. - Done ! Daddy Weezl swooped in and took care of this one :)

Task Two: this can take input of more than one person, so anyone with a moment to spare, please take a look and then let us know your thoughts, either here or via Skype or PM if you prefer. The task is to look at the planner page of CFR and give some thought to how it should read once the other planner is up - we need to make it super-clear for a newbie which planner to use depending on which is their non-negotiable - Essentially done - Susan's chart will take care of this. If anyone thinks additional info should be included in the chart, please post about it.

Task Three: this is again for everyone who visits, reads and posts - we would like another alternatives article, as we have so many suggestions that the original article would be unwieldy if they were all added to it - hopefully pinkhayley might want to compile this one as well, so Hayles, please let us know if this is not possible for you. - Hayley has agreed to do the article :T so keep looking and keep posting your alternatives. If you mark them FAO Hayley, or post them in PINK, it'll help Hayley spot them

Task Four- to have a read of the batch day article, alongside the thread on old-style and work out which mse user name said which quote, and them match that with their real life initials. - Done ! Thanks, Arty !

Susan, if you're about, would you know the answer to this question:

A few people did a google search using words cheap family recipes, within a few seconds of each other. A bunch of them got CFR as the fifth link on the google page. I got it as the first. Why was mine different to everyone else's ?

BTW, I do not usually use google to search for the page - I have it saved in my favourites.

Has anyone apart from Shanks tested vegan mayo and been sucessful with it ? Likewise, has anyone tried the raisin biscuits ?

If so, would you be able to help out with the recipe/methods ?

    I can make wild guesses:
    - you're using a different google (although I would assume that the majority would be using .co.uk which is where CFR would have the highest ranking)
    - you've "favourited" it in google
    - google has some secret tracking system which means it knows you've been to the site or it reads your bookmarks (points against this theory are that I have it bookmarked and go to it frequently and it still came up fifth for me)

well things seem to be racing along nicely :)

I am feeling more hopeful about kitty being published which will be a heckuva relief :D

I was then going to have a little break from the site (but still be friendly on here!)

And then offer kitty and shirl just lots of stand alone cheap recipes :)

not sure if you all wanted this for the survey results etc for the vegan recipes.

I made the bread, carrot bread and calzones today, the bread crumbled because it was so fresh but still "really nice" as tried by OH and DS2 (i.e snips).
All of us had the calzone which everyone really enjoyed so will definitely make them again. I told everyone they had cheese in them ;), then waited till the end and told them. Everyone was gobsmacked, so yes definitely a keeper :D.

I found though i needed for flour to make the calzones stick, is this normal. If so it could be worth adding a note at the end of the recipe.
Oh and the boys DS1 (coddy) and DS2 (snips) have asked for some in they pack lunches :D, so they must be good!

Right going to chill for a bit then sort more stuff out x
