I think it's because there isn't a weekly breakdown of the shopping list onsite, perhaps ?
ah, see I was worried it was the shopping list.

Hmmmmn you put something up there to be helpful and actually it hinders shirl...

    options:

    1. take down the shopping list
    2. put at the top not to buy it all at once if unsure (tho I think it already says this pretty much?)
    3. ermmm.... not sure....

I did feel better, and it was great that folk on here were willing to befriend me through feeling criticised publically :)

I'm glad you believe in it enough to tell people lesley, that's fab :)

Are all the regular contributors signed up to the windows workspace still do you know lesley, I'm looking for a way of communicating which offers a bit more scope than on here. And possibly some sort of live synchronous chat meeting :D if we had the techno wherewithal!

have just checked and the workspace is still as we left it, it doesn't seem to have a chat facility that I can see - unless you know different?

just had a quick look at messenger, I think that can have several people on at once can't it, didn't see how on my quick look

    fabulous :)

The issue is my inability to properly record meals/portions batche in the top 13 rows, which means that although I've got a correct amount of batches now, I haven't got the right number of portions so that the calories etc are right.

I find it doable for my tired brain when it's just a main meal, but get into a slight maths pickle when it's a big batch of seed butter or something :D

what would be the best plan? for me to send it over?

The only incomplete task is to retrofit in the marmite (yeast extract) so if you had any space for helping with that too it'd be fab :)

ps problem with the rows is just me and maths, not the spreadsheet going wrong or anything, it's fab :)
I think I need to have a look at it.

if I can sort out the batches, I could tell you what numbers to put in so it wouldn't interfere with your tweaking

But even if it is broken down in weekly, she could still be scared that a week's shopping will go to waste.

Weezl, a Shirl too scared to jump in with both feet is not your fault and not a bad thing. Let her try the recipes out on an individual basis, and go for the full month when she's ready.

quick clarifying question for dumb weezlie here,:o:D

when folk are saying shirl doesn't want to spend all that cash at once if it might not work... erm... why is she buying it all at once? like, is a massive monthly shop really normal? (just that I've never done it)

Sorry, that may have been me being thick, and probably was :o but I've always gone under the assumption that you bought the lot at the start of the month (with the exception of the fresh items perhaps) to benefit from the cheapest prices.

Now reading this back, it does actually sound a bit thick and it would be obvious to think about what you actually NEED each week. :o:o Told you I needed my hand holding!

There is no need to take the shopping list down, and you do state not to buy it all at once, but maybe a weekly shopping list would help?

    Sorry for being dense!

I agree with Allegra, many people will do the whole thing straight away, and many won't.

I'd love a planner for people with little time (but perhaps a slightly bigger budget) as some of the dishes take a while to prep/cook & when you don't get home from work till 7pm that's not always feasible!

How do you feel about batch cooking, Goggle ? That is to say, cook when you do have time, bung it in the fridge or freezer, just reheat when you get home. Or do you never have time to spare for cooking ?

What about giving shirl a starter kit of recipes? Maybe a week's worth? Then she has an idea of the work involved without it seeming too overwhelming.

If she sees she can spend £30 (for example) on food for *the week* it may just be that she feels it's achievable.
