wow thank you, and hello and welcome :):T:T:T

I do have a few questions on my back-burner,
:eek: Blimey, you lot have thought about this haven't you. I'd hate to see your output when you get the wok burner and the fan oven going.

Seriously, I'll look forward to researching these - I'll learn me a thing or two myself.

Also, where did you get to on the Omega 3 debate? I know there was speculation on the ins and outs some pages back (probably only a couple of hours ago with the speed of this thread) but I'm not sure what conclusions you drew. If you've got any questions ...(like I haven't got enough already ;).)Sorry if its raking over old ground.

Back soon.... err, well maybe not that soon.
    Cheers

I really want to make the red pepper houmous it looks nomnomnomnomnomnomnomnomnom-I thought that although it was quite oily, as a treat it would still be ok now and again! Mr arty will eat it all up too.

Mind you the diet went out the window at half past midnight when I was merry and ate a burger from a burger van ( I'm surprised I dont have food poisoning:p)

ahhh omega gate! fondly I remember it :rotfl:

the plot went a bit like this:

realised we were low in omega 3

read that in the west most people are good for O6 but O3 is in the wrong proportion.

    researched different nuts and fish.

Initially went for 6 large cans pilchards in tom sauce. Realised this ate up way too much of the budget, sadly.

read that rapeseed oil contains from memory 8% O3

used pumpkin seeds in the nut butter to provide more, and found that there were scant amounts in some of the other things on the menu.

Mr arty worked out minimum quantity of oil required to fulfil o3 needs (something like 1.9 litres over the month?).

    Built that into the recipes.

omega gate phase 2, it was observed that there might be destruction of the valent o3 above certain temperatures.

a few people researched what temps these might be. results inconclusive, but some said baking at gas 4 would probably still be ok.

So changed a few recipes so that the oil is added at the end/drizzled onto the finished dinner.

Result, at least 1.9 litres (or whatever it was!) is now consumed raw.

    Also we have pumpkin seeds.

As planner 3 the vegan one contains more seeds, I'm guessing it's still ok for o3, but I realise I haven't analysed o6 in either planner which may well come back to bite me on the @rse!

    Howzat for a summary!!!!

Ideal. I'll knock up a paragraph and call it question 6.

ETA - Sorry, I don't mean to imply it's easy to just knock up a para on a complex issue, not when I know what's gone before. Just at work and typed it quickly without thinking.

the cals are per entire meal ie inclusive of what we're saying to serve it with ie the onion tart plus the potatoes plus the veg.

Or the apple curd plus the homemade bread.

edit: Lesley that is right isn't it? :)

I usually freeze baked things after cooking, and the scones defrost very well, but don't defrost the wheat based things in a microwave as they can go a bit stiff :)

don't know if this has been answered now as I am catching up with 7 pages, but yes, the calorie count (and the other nutrition info) is for the whole meal

aw thanks, you're very thoughtful, but don't worry, you didn't sound dismissive-just concise, a quality I could grow in! :D

Hello Lesley, I missed you :)

Hope RL is a bit less stressful. Don't forget potty's offer to go break some legs for you

Just a quick suggestion for when these things are upsetting you.

When something is upsetting you or frustrating you, it tends to affect all of you, blocking you from moving forward or acting effectively. One thing you can try is only allowing it to affect one tiny part of you. You can pick your own part.

For expample, something is "doing your head in", try allowing it to only do your tiny toe in. Get all the feelings concentrated in your toe, and if you notice them creeping back, send them back to your toe. It's weirdly effective, easy to learn and can allow you to get on with what you need to do.
    :)

what a great tip. I have forwarded it to someone in need of stress busting and will try and remember to do it myself when I'm feeling under pressure

arty I looked up the redpepper houmous and I make it that one 25g serving (enough for 2 slices of bread) is only half a point.

So that's pretty good I think?

Sorry, what I'm responding to is you saying it might have to be a rarer treat item, and I was thinking that at half a point it might be more doable than at first it seems, IYSWIM? :rotfl:
