I have to turn in now, but before I do, can anyone confirm that the fake baby in matin's blog, right, looks weirdly like Matt Lucas?

We think, yes! If I eat the special asparagus with hollandaise from waitrose with delia's recipe, I will have become that pretty, successful happy woman I see in the advert! I will be like her!

In truth, no. You will be you tomorrow, with asparagus in your poo.

That made me laugh SO much. What a great image. Sounds like a FB status update.
  • Hello all, long(ish) time lurker here.

I'm afraid I haven't managed to catch up in the thread's entirity but I think I've got the gist. I'm in awe of all of you, very well done. I especially like the website that the project has evolved into.

I thought I'd jump in and offer some help: would you like some recipes tested (eat anything, not veggie but broadminded;):D), or a good old click around the website for feedback in that department... you tell me, I'm all yours (usual commitments aside, but we're all in that boat). I've also an interest in nutrition if there's anything you'd like me to research.

    Will await further instructions....:D
    Cheers

wow thank you, and hello and welcome :):T:T:T

I do have a few questions on my back-burner, and if you knew of any studies which are relevant, that would be fab!

    1) Is there any research suggesting that more than 5 a day of F and V portions is better for health, if other things are controlled for, like that the extra F and V isn't swapping for something 'naughty' like chocolate! I'd also be keen to know if a lot of the reported benefits of more than 5 a day are linked to F and V having a higher water content than other foods.

    2) The type of calcium used as a firming agent in Asda kidney beans, could that be used to count towards the calcium total of our theoretical family.

    3) Is there any research suggesting what nutrient loss occurs with fresh fruit and vegetables after picking (ie for each week they lose 3% or whatever it is!)

    4) With the eating our colours, does that have to be each day, or can the body hang on to those benefits? (and have 2 portions of red one day and 2 whites the next?)

    5) any idea whether there is any health benefit of each type of veg being served in 80g quantities, or is a recipe just as good if there's 90g of one type of veg and 70g of another (provided both the veggies were of similar quality nutritionally).

I completely mean these in a gentle, whenever/if ever you have the time, please don't experience this as any urgent pressure! And no need to do them all, just chip in on one of them if you have the energy :)

all joking aside, someone on another forum did lay into the planner for lack of variety at lunches based on the descriptors on the planners table :(

so I need something with as few characters as 'bean pate sandwiches' or ideally fewer characters but which is said 5 different ways IYSWIM?

    Dear arty and Mr arty,

I did spot your post yesterday, and thanks loads for your hard work.

I realised I was feeling a bit anxious about loading any new software to my 5 yr old pc before the weekend as I have a couple of bits of work to deliver to old clients before then and I'm a bit nervous of accidentally messing up my hard drive with new stuff before then.

I really must upgrade but time and cash have been an issue!

Arty, please apologise to Mr A as I am definitely keen to see his work but am just nervous about my PC at the moment (and can't swap my software to the lappy as it's not powerful enough!).

You know your a frugal fellow when........

... after a night of socialising you wake up and your first thought isn't, 'Yay I havent got a hangover', instead it is, 'Dam I forgot to soak my chickpeas!!!'.
    :rotfl:

    I'm obviously getting old!!!:p

Weezl no worries about the software, thats why mr arty has the huge computer so he can cope with it. If your com gets a bit jittery then we can think of a way around itxxx
