weezl Breakfast: usually cereal (wheat bisks, meusli, porridge are currently available) or toast (peanut butter, choc spread, jams currently available. On a Saturday we like to have a bacon sandwich.
DH has been known to have bacon more often, though .
Lunch: Sandwiches for the children and I have a sandwich when I go to Uni. DH likes something hot for lunch so if I am at home I will often make something for us both or I will have a sandwich and give him leftovers.
I'm still unconvinced by approved foods. I found once delivery was put on it didn't seem much cheaper and I found it full of foods that I either don't buy or would prefer not to.0 -
Oh quick question sorry if this has been asked before. I have to use normal tea for the carrot cake or it is okay to make it with herbal?
Me fussy parent again, don't like them having any kind of caffeine if i can help it.0 -
weezl I would suggest having the sides on the recipe as that's where I look for that information, but it doesn't really matter where it goes as long as people know where to look.0

yep! I can definitely see why there's less variety on the bob and shirl planner, that sll sounds lovely
So variety is a hardship that shirl may be feeling.
Also lack of meatsorry you had to give some of your dinner away, hope you don't feel hungry!
I wonder if your DH would rather have fewer meat containing meals but less often if he was in Bob's position? I've been going down a route of a little bit of meat more frequently, so the Bobs get the meaty taste more often, but there may be some bobs who'd be happier being mostly vegetarian, but eat a whole roast chicken between 4 once a month IYSWIM...
Not that I can tweak the planner particularly at this stage, but we could offer it as a tip to shirley, like saying to eat the meat free planner but add in a chicken
Whaddyareckon?

do you think the pate needed more oil then? ours was quite runny, but I'm wondering if I made a mistake with the weights. Is anyone else finding it dry on toast?

ok I think the next priority needs to be the chicken: shall we all prep it on saturday ready for sunday's pie and for portioning ready for the other meals and making the stock?
Can people face another half day's cooking so soon?:)

weezl I think my DH just likes to have meat everyday, though I had started to alternate between meat meals and veggie meals and he was giving that a go, knowing there were sausages in the freezer if he felt that he needed the meat.
So maybe doing something like that would work.
I can't imagine he be happy with just once a month, though...gosh he sounds far more awkward than he really is.
As far as variety, perhaps I do a more varied meal plan than most. My DH has said that he would have a 2/3 week meal plan.
When we were first together I did a 2 week rolling menu. I think 2 weeks is long enough to be thinking you've eaten this before!
Oh and sandwiches are always ham and lettuce and cucumber and mayo, so quite repetitive0 -
weezl I did my pie filling the other day. I found 1 chicken did both pies for my family of 6.
I have another chicken in the freezer for the other chicken meals.
I couldn't decide whether that was more than I was supposed to use but that's what the weights came out to.
I think 2 meals out of one chicken is pretty good...0 -

I think it's great frankie
I was assuming a 1.3 kg chicken would do 4 meals ie 16 portions, which is the equivalent for you guys of just over 2 and a half meals so our maths are very nearly spot on and your chicken may have been smaller than mine.
Your DH doesn't sound fussy at all, I'm asking lots of questions because I think of all the testers, he and shanks' ex probably have the most similar tastes to our Bob, so I'm wanting to find out how well it's working for them.
When you say a 2-3 week planner, do you mean, different things each day for 2-3 weeks, of evening meals?
