  • Hi All, since the topic of weight has come up I thought I would add my 2 penth in! I have lost 4lb in the time I have been following the plan which is about a month now :j I think the massive thing for me has been portion control. Using the guidlines on the the website for portion sizes means I have been filling full and not over eatting!

I would normally pile my plate high and eat everything on on it.........not now. So I've saved £ and lost lbs.

Thank you so much everyone for all the hard work and effort you have put into the planners. It is greatly appricated

Sorry for my 3rd post here in less than 45 mins but I have a quick question regarding freezing of some of the recipes. I know it's mentioned on the houmous page, but I was wondering if the breakfast pancakes/scones/onion pie/bacon pudding can be frozen? It'd be helpful if you could include more about storage etc on things as quite a few of us are probably thinking of batch cooking these. Sorry if it has already been answered somewhere and thanks for your patience! :P

I really thought I would put weight on with all the cake scones and oil! It has really made me think about food differently.

I haven't been hungry at all! My OH has been a couple of times at lunch time but he just has extra cake or sandwich. My 7 year old has been fine too

Hiya :) On the recipes page one of the columns is called 'freezes well?' and says yes or no, you can also click it so you can look at just the recipes that do freeze.

erm... re storage advice, we have some more batch cooking and storage info due to go live soon (after the vegan planner goes live, so hopefully no more than 10 days away. But in the meantime is there anything we can help with?

    Yay!

sorry to bombard you with questions, but it seems very relevant to our current debate! Could you please say a bit more about the bit above in bold? Like, what did you think before and how has this changed it?

Ah thanks, never noticed that column! I'm just really excited at finding the website as i'm a fussy eater but have found quite alot of things I like and they do actually work out pretty cheap. Most of the cookbooks that say the ingredients are cheap are lies! Liiies! :)

Psst, would you freeze things like pastry/scones/pancakes after cooking or in dough form?

And one last thing, then I promise i'll stop bugging you, are the calories/fat given per portion or per... the quantities given in the recipe?

the cals are per entire meal ie inclusive of what we're saying to serve it with ie the onion tart plus the potatoes plus the veg.

Or the apple curd plus the homemade bread.

edit: Lesley that is right isn't it? :)

I usually freeze baked things after cooking, and the scones defrost very well, but don't defrost the wheat based things in a microwave as they can go a bit stiff :)

A about 2 years ago I put three stone on in three months  (partly stress and partly bad food choices) I had previously been able to eat anything without any consequence. So I began re-educating myself about food. I lost 2 stone via slimming world cutting out all fat. Seeing lots of low fat products, hearing lots and reading lots about how evil fat is, I thought cutting it out was the way forward. So when I looked at your planner (and please don't be offended) it felt alien to be adding lard/oil and eating cake. Simply because I had developed this understanding that fat was bad (which they are eaten the way I was before in huge quanities!) But eating them in a controlled way as in the planner means I haven't been consuming vast quanities of it.

Does that make sense.....I'm not sure I've explained myself very well!:o

    thank you BBH :)

It does feel weird doesn't it, the lard and oil.

I think for me, a lot of it is realising that if I reduce the fat in my food I sometimes don't feel full enough, because fat leads to a feeling of fullness, whereas a meal with just carbs can give a bit of a sugar spike in your bloodstream.

I'm very glad you came on and said such reassuring things on a day when I really needed a boost :)
