No further responses today, so list remains as posted yesterday.

What is the situation with plan 2, which I think was the veggie one, if plan 1 is Shirl's & plan 3 is Kitty's?

I have physio tomorrow, but over the next few days would you like me to look through the existing recipes on prep/cooking time & list them in quickest to get on the table? And/or surf the net & my extensive :o recipe book collection for ideas on quick & cheap?

Had a meeting at DD's new secondary school today! Don't know where the time has gone, seems like 5 mins since she was a LO!!

    Thanks :)

Perhaps will wait a little bit and assume the others would prefer not to?

Planner 2..... Hmmmmn, well it was pointed out that it's a it of a non-planner really, ie it's only plus point is it has cheese! But no eggs and therefore good if you don't approve of battery farming.

However, kitty's planner is really yummy, and has no eggs either, so it seems a LOT of extra effort, to help a group of people we've already helped, IYSWIM?

If you meant to work out prep/cooking times for the new vegan recipes, ready for that to go live, then yes please! That would be absolutely fabulous, and how did you know that was one of my imminent tasks :)

If plan 2 is on the backburner presume Kitty's should be published as plan 2 instead, or will raise questions as to why there is an option 1 and an option 3!?

Will hold off on sorting recipes by time etc for now, but will be pleased to do this if it is decided this would be beneficial.

In the meantime will see what I can do about getting timings for the new vegan recipes. Should be able to do this from the recipes, comparison with other recipes & experience. But if anyone has actually tried any & can provide details of how long it took them, that would be great.

Hi Lesley, just pinged the frozen spreadsheet as promised :)

For a moment there I thought you were talking about heating up a new dish in a microwave.

I think Kitty's planner should be planner 2, and I think the two planners cover all the non-negotiables that is reasonable for you/us to cover.

Furthermore, I think that two full month's planners is enough in terms of fish, and that the next step should be teaching them to fish - that is, come up with more frugal recipes (costings comparable to planner's costings), without necessarily tying them in with a plan - let Kitty and Shirl pick and choose themselves in order to come up with their own plan :)

Of course, if you are dying to spend the next few months glued to nutritional spreadsheets and mysupermarket shopping lists, I will not dream of attempting to stop you.... :rotfl:

Oh, and you know a funny thing ? There are more people on FB that have liked CFR than there are people that liked MSE.....

I thought planner two was supposed to be good for people who wanted fancy coffee or something?

Edit: Here's the post about it I remembered if that's any help.

ps just checked and shop bought hovis wholemeal is 10 times the salt of the no knead bread

Gosh in lots of ways we really are improving shirl and kitty's health I think!

You know, I would love to have a go at doing a loaf of bread, to see how I get on. I've not made any since I was in school, which is (cough) a couple of years back now ;) but the recipe doesn't seem to lend itself well to being quartered when it comes to the yeast quantity. Does anyone have any suggestions on that front? or is it a no go?

I'm sure if I successfully made a loaf, the family would love it, and who knows, the smell of freshly baked bread may even entice my daughter to eat something.

The beauty of Weezl's recipe is that it doesnt need kneading which is easier, though I have been experimenting in my house, using a quarter of the amount of flour for Weezl's loaves, about 2tsp of yeast (packet of dove something one from Lakeland, really cheap, lasts for ages, ours is a year out of date and in fridge, still working!) and a little salt and sugar in the water, less than 1/4 of weezl's, stirring it together in a big bowl with a fork and chucking in a bit of extra flour until it is a nice big ball of dough, not too wet. Then I just stick my hands in and roll it about in the bowl a bit, not really kneading, just folding and prodding and squishing it until it went stretchy. Then I left it to rise for a bit, until it went all big and lovely, then sucker punched it down a bit, shaped it, whacked it in the oven and tried to be restrained in not eating it all

So, the point of that ramble was to say, have a go, it is very therapeutic and you feel very proud when you eat bread you made from just 'ingredients'! :T:T:T
