    morning all.

Am planning to try the Tomato and Olive thingy tonight, but as a pie rather than a pudding. On reviewing the recipe I noticed that it had
    1 can plum tomatoes, chopped
    300g onions chopped into dice
    160g olives roughly chopped
    160g onions diced
    50g red lentils
    as the ingredients

Is it the 300g or the 160g of onions you intended to be used Weezl, I am assuming not 300+160?

  • Hiya all,

Not sure if I'm just silly, had the red pepper tart last night, very yummy it was too, but the method asks one to combine tomato juice and juice from pepper jar, heat till thickened. Should there be an extra ingredient like cornflour, or did my juices just not want to play?

I have to say, this thread and all these frugal recipes have helped me come to terms with one fact...I just cannot stand cooked carrot :o. It's fine in big things like a stew or disguised in cottage pie/similar, but as a predominant flavor, I have to choke it down :p.

    hey mangojoe :D

erm, I don't think it's you! I think it's me not wording it very carefully :o

I think I mean 'reduces down by half' as opposed to thickened.

    Would that have been better?

  • Hi Weezl,

Yes, that would be better, I added some cornflour which worked quite well, but I will try it again with a reduced sauce, and let you know the results. BTW, I tried a small batch bake, did the Red Pepper Tart, Red Pepper pasta and Red Pepper Hummus, it seemed to work better than batch baking lots of different recipes, but then maybe it's just me that finds it easier. I tried Allegra's batch baking and failed to match her times as real life got in the way. I would be interested to hear other people's experiences.:)

    Potty!

    Hello stranger :)

Sorry about your poorly eyes :(

If it helps you to still keep in touch with your forum friends have you thought about having a month's free trial of a screen reader software?

I tried one for 40 days for free called JAWS. Basically it just reads the page out to you.

Then you could lay back with cold tea bags on the eyes and listen to all of us, but in a slightly stephen hawking voice :)

    Ohhhhh...
I might have to look into that :D Thanks.

    I couldn't find the doughnut recipe :(
Where ya hiding it Weezl ??:p

Potty nice to see you back and you Frankie missed you both
If you go to the usual place click on the cheap family recipes link, go to recipes then at the bottom of that there is a link that will take you to the vegan planner. The doughnut recipe is about halfway down that page linked in with bread.
Hope that makes sense and you can find it ok if not shout and i will try to explain it a bit better xx
