can anyone remember/suggest what other non-negotiables we were going to try and meet, other than, meat, fresh fruit, and no battery eggs?

  • We had the shepherdless pie last night ( OH and I, kids think lentils are bleurgh!). OMG someone take the left overs awaaaaaaaaaaay!!! I have had to freeze the them to stop me nomming the whole thing. I always forget how much I like lentils for some reason and with the oregano, oh my. Does anyone perchance know what the carbs are for this one? OH was being a bit cautious, as even though it's for dinner, he thought it might be a bit of a carb load for him and his insulins.

Oh and another quick query, I bought a huge bag of reduced chickpeas, they seem to have skins on, which remain a bit chewy even when cooked, does anyone know an effective way to get them off? Am going to cook some later and make my first ever houmous!! I have some roasted veg I thought might go nice in it.

We are having shirley's pizza dough for tea, but with diff toppings, got me thingking about cost though. Even the tomoto puree I use on the base is 10cents each, so it must mount up by the time we load them with all the usuals, still cheaper than grocery store frozen or take out I guess.
Eat food, not edible food-like items. Mostly plants.

    Poll Options what's your non-negotiable?
at least 1 piece fresh fruit per person per day (there's already 7 of your '5 a day' in meal plan)
    Meat at most evening meals
free range eggs if any are used at all
high quality/free range meat if any is used at all
    sweet treats and puddings
branded goods for my 5 favourite things, rather than value ranges
one member of the family has/needs special more expensve diet (please say if you don't mind?)
    organic where possible
    nothing processed
nothing that takes too long/cooked from scratch: too busy/don't like spending hrs in kitchen

Hi Weezl, I think the jury is still out on special skills. :) I love to bake though, and I tend to take lots of arty photos of the things I make. Pies, pasties, cookies and cakes - these are a few of my favourite things. Leftovers are another kind of specialty area, I guess - I tend to find creative ways to use things up. I'd love to help test though, if I can. DH isn't keen on lentils but there are some recipes I've seen that I'm going to try.

Ok I'm assuming that Kitty's planner fulfils the 2 green ones :)

and the 2 brown ones are so specific to the individual that there's not much we can suggest

purple is not possible on this price point

So that would leave us with nothing cooked from scratch  Or lots of sweet treats...

Hmmmmn looks like planner 4 will be heavy with doughnuts!

    Thanks shanks :)

Any others people thought it might be worth investing time in?

Or do I turn my attention to what just Kitty and shirl eat next month :) Or do we feel they've learnt a lot about fishing now :)?

Thank you, I should update it a bit more though. :) I've stacks of pics that I've not gotten around to writing up about yet!
