I’ve put the timings from shanks’ post on to the spreadsheet, but this only goes down to bread, on the original recipe list. I know that some of the new vegan recipes have now been tested, so if anyone has I would appreciate it if you could post the prep/cook times so these can be added.

    Thanks!
thanks for getting so far so fast Julie :D wow!

Can I have where you've got to already, we can then have stats for all the non-testing recipes :)

does everyone agree that the only things we're not recommending freezing is the spanish omelette and the pasta dishes? :)

Obvioulsy I haven't made these particular pasta dishes but I've found that with pasta dishes as long as I add some water when reheating and stir it every so often rather than doing it on one long blast they are fine.

yeah I guessed Alice, but thought I'd tease you ;)

My DH is a good all rounder like you, I think it's great, to turn your hand to most things :)

I'm more of a either really good at something or spectaculary ungood. So I say to DH, you are a great all rounder and I am a great specialist. And then we both feel good :D

I also think that it's good you did those things whilst unemployed, I think it'd've been really depressing otherwise, because you are one of those always interested in things people. Rather than a sit all day in your dressing gown watching Jeremy Kyle type of person.

    hey aless :)

would love to link to defra but it would look to the google robots like an attempt to bump listings and so could result in us losing ranking or being delisted. :(

How else can I get round that?

I don't know the details of how google robots work, but is it looking for actual links? If so, just a thought on how you could give the info without giving the links and upsetting the robots. (This might be no good at all and not help in anyway). What about having a tab for 'links' and then listing the names of the organisations as you would want to but without giving the actual web address, grouped in whatever way and then either saying "links to follow" which would make people think it was a work in progress, or "links to follow when this site is more established" or somesuch - which would be closer to the whole truth but a bit clunky..... either way, you could list the name of the site, and say why you like it, and the person could then google it if they were interested......? Visitors can then get the information they need without it counting against the site.

    Any good?

    Cbm

Edited to add : you could put "links to follow" with a neat little hover box that explains why it is not good to add links at this stage. Shirley will be impressed with the techy-savviness and not mind having to google the link.

Thanks Juliette :) forwarded to my dad for further development :)

If anyone is sat by their machine with a few spare mins, we need to come up with a '5 a day score' for each of the recipes (main evening meals only).

Rather than one person do them all which is clunky and laborious, perhaps folk could just say, 'I'll do the 3 soups!' or 'I'll do the xxx' and then we don't double up.

Here's the method if anyone fancies it:

it's 80g of fresh, frozen or canned F and v to one portion
it's 20g of dried F and V to one portion

so if a recipe had 2 cans tomatoes (800g), 130g onion and 40g dried weight chickpeas, you'd do, 800g/80 = 10 portions for the toms
    130/80 = 1.625 portions for the onions

and 40/20 for the chick peas = 2 portions.

    Therefore whole recipe = 13.625

then divide by 4 cos there's 4 of them eating it and round up or down to the nearest half a portion (this is how the FSA recommend recipes are done)

    13.625/4= 3.40625 which is therefore counted as 3.5 of your 5 a day :)

Don't forget to count the side veg :)

I'm feeling strangely like a maths teacher now!!!!!:rotfl:

edit, forgot to give time frame! If you pop on and bags one, it'd be helpful if you could then pop your result on here the next day :)

That was the worst thing about being pregnant: being so ill that the only thing I could do was sit around watching daytime TV. (But I did get dressed when OH came home at lunch times to help me.)

On the links, an alternative to actual links could be to put the url as text (i.e. so people would have to c&p rather than a hyperlink they just click).
