Shanks, I for some reason always assume that when people use a couple of digits at the end of their username they use their year of birth , which would make you the same age as me. Which of course would mean that you are a young slip of a thing :p Of course, I have cunningly shacked up with a much older bloke which means that from his pov I will be a young slip of a thing when I am 80.... :rotfl:

Well its a nice thought but no thats not the case. Now our Arty is a young slip of a thing and Sian sounds it and may indeed be one too.[/QUOTE]

    Sian82 here :)

Arty is younger than me :D

Thanks Susan, I hope Alice sleeps better for you tonight :)
Thanks. There is a funny side to it though when does things like has a tantrum for birthday cake in her sleep. (We ate her birthday cake because she didn't like it.)

And, with no time pressure at all, but just cos it'd be interesting to know about, a linkie about it being man made sat fats which are worse, ie that lets lard of the hook, would be fab :) (see what I did there?:))
Yes, I was meaning to reply about that but hadn't got round to it. I do have links somewhere around but not quickly to hand at the moment. I think I just didn't want to get into a big debate about it on my blog (and the post was part of a frugal blog carnival so it would have been a bit off topic to go there).

the porridge it is really easy to do for 1 person i did it this morning i have to admit with a bit of trepidation cause i was not a porridge fan but it is lovely i think the hot oat cereal makes it slightly less like the porridge i grew up to hate and the raisins give it a bit of texture worth trying for yourself.
im sorry to pop up yet again, but god my tea was blooming lovely! rather early may i add, but wow what a tea. We had the risi e bisi followed by carrot cake. I made the risi e bisi vegetarian by using quorn bacon, and i only used 1 pk of dried peas, as the children have never tried those before! 5 empty plates, with the dog trying to get the last bits stuck to the saucepan! Just waiting for hubby to get home and try his!
Carrot cake to follow went down a treat! I adapted the recipe as I dont use sugar and i made it lower in fat by using 200mls of oil and 200mls of soya milk. I added 3 tablespoons of honey to it instead of sugar. Cake is beautifully light and is now cut into 35 little squares.
Why oh why do people think cardboard food from fast food establishments taste so good, when you can eat all this!
Tasty, Tasty, Tasty! Im so pleased to be able to cook these wonderful recipes that are so frugal. I love that my family all enjoy what I have cooked for them. Thankyou
Can I be a tester for the vege plan when it ready please!

We all had the tart, tonight, together with potato salad and it was a huge hit. So it was worth all the effort.

    Just for information.
There are four of us and Me, OH, DD(13) DS(12)
We are following the plan for evening meals following the Morecambe and Wise model (all of the right meals but not necessarily in the right order)
We just want to reduce our outgoings, food waste and increase our healthy food balance. Our grand plan is to save for a holiday:)

    p.s. I am not 808 ;););)

Well I have never had butternut squash before, but [STRIKE]on the recommendation of a welsh lady who's all malibu and nail varnish, [/STRIKE]I bought one.

The omelette was scrummy!!!!!!:T:T:T I'd give the meal 10 out of 10-the wedges satisfed my craving for 'junk food' the carrots and squash made it feel [STRIKE]much more [/STRIKE]balanced [STRIKE]than the carbonara [/STRIKE]and it was really easy to make.:beer:

We had the carrot cake this morning and my visitors loved it. I made it with garam masala, so we had a game of "guess the mystery ingredient." No-one got it right, the nearest suggestion was turmeric.

The bacon and onion pudding was a success here too. I snuck a little bit of mixed herbs into the pastry, which gave it a nice flavour. This is definitely one I'll continue to use post-planner, now I know it's not difficult to make. The filling coulld be varied with all kinds of meat and veg combinations.

I'll trawl for a few more tomorrow if you want?

haha, the numbers theory doesn't always work as i most certainly am not 8 years old :p. I am secretly pleased not to be the youngest, sorry arty! :D aless84 here...

Arty, Defra is the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. I guess at some point they set nutrition figures, though nowadays i think that sort of thing would fall to the Food Standards Agency, who are a subsidiary body. If u find that confusing on the webpage, maybe weezl should just hyperlink the word defra to their website just so people can very quickly see that it's a govt department.

(and susanand allegra, i hope your DDs let you catch up on sleep/rest soon)
