Thanks. Alice wasn't so bad but the grumpy (due to sleep deprivation) husband disturbed me instead.

Oh and shanks, I forgot we need to add that wyebird is having a think about the nutrition pages, and CBM is thinking about an interactive questionnaire...

Are we going for the questionnaire then? Fine will look at it.... I had a question about it and must have missed the answer:
When you say expand, at this stage do you mean more questions, more answers, or is this an idea that realistically should be 'parked' as there are other priorities? (PS please be honest, I'm fairly thick-skinned and will just dream up another idea if this one isn't good, or not good for now!)

I hope that this isn't going to take too much time for you to turn into code; adding all those pages with so many links.
How would you like me to proceed; it will probably clog the board to put each question with 3 or 4 answers in a separate post for people to comment on. I'll look at this next week - I've got the week off yippee!

I did like the idea a lot CBM.
The only proviso I have is that I'd want it to be a little bit more serious, and a bit less, no matter what your situation, we have the answer! ish, than your original example, but only in a few places.

I personally liked the jollyness a lot, but I wonder if we are appearing to have too much fun, we may diminish how seriously we have thought about lots of aspects of the planners.

This is basically because if not in dire straights I know I would be more likely, and do this, to provide calcium in my family's diet, through milk than inventive things like ready brek!

I am not meaning this to sound at all critical of the fab idea, just trying to give you a clear brief to work towards!

I shall think further, and chat again in a later post about this :)

the lovely smlsave has asked if we have any tips for not having massively gunky hands after making the bread. I think it's such a good question that I think I'll add our tips to the recipe page, and also ask you all what our tips ARE about very sticky dough hands :)!

haha, the numbers theory doesn't always work as i most certainly am not 8 years old :p. I am secretly pleased not to be the youngest, sorry arty! :D aless84 here...

Arty, Defra is the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. I guess at some point they set nutrition figures, though nowadays i think that sort of thing would fall to the Food Standards Agency, who are a subsidiary body. If u find that confusing on the webpage, maybe weezl should just hyperlink the word defra to their website just so people can very quickly see that it's a govt department.

(and susanand allegra, i hope your DDs let you catch up on sleep/rest soon)
    hey aless :)

would love to link to defra but it would look to the google robots like an attempt to bump listings and so could result in us losing ranking or being delisted. :(

How else can I get round that?

Morag thanks for trawling for quotes, that's ace :)

In general I am favouring any which are an accolade and a tip, ie 'I loved this, and found it tasted just as good after I froze it!' cos then the quotes offer more than just: these are really nice recipes, blah, blah, does that make sense?

    I shall add yours asap.

Shanks any chance you could note those quotes somewhere on your master list. (Do say if this is becoming too onerous!)

I was born in 1974. (but I am not serious or matronly as arty feared. I have fun and everything :))

I was thinking about that and wondered whether having no outgoing links at all might look a bit strange.

I was also thinking about how you said that to add another link in the menu at the top would require manually changing it on every single page. When I coded a website from scratch (the content was rubbish - it was just an exercise in writing the code when I was learning) I used some php which meant that I had one copy of the beginning and end of every page and then each page was written so that it would read that copy. It meant that I only had to make changes once rather than going through each individual page. Maybe there's a good reason for you not having done it like that which I haven't thought of but I thought I'd mention it just in case it's useful. (Although obviously to put it in place now would still require recoding every page but once it was done any new changes would only need to be done once.)

arty, I've changed the top heading that was 'recipes by diet' is it any better?

re prices for all dishes, some are a little bit absurd to include, like 0.3 of a penny for a spoon of mayo, so I've left them out. Also we were a bit worried about somone ranking the recipes by cost and then only eating the very cheapest things, just marmalade on bread and spanish omelette, without getting all their nutrients...

But if people feel it needs to be there and look odd/wrong without, I'm happy to rethink that?

    :)

it does seem odd not to have any... I'll ask my dad if he now thinks we have strong enough inbound links to warrant some :)

    *goes out on a limb*

susan you always seem to express things without wastage of words.

Allegra is struggling with having to edit DOWN her batch guide.

The task of editing down Allegra has no specific time frame from my perspective....

Is anyone else putting a penny in the slot and coming up bananas here?!

It was eight years ago I did it (one of the things I did while unemployed along with starting ot learn Greek and starting to make a still unfinished patchwork) but I'll see if I can find the coding I did.
