However I am too close to the project to see why the voice of the people is not active about this project.

Beacuse we are a bunch of dummies, that's why :) I actually held back every time I read a thread asking "how the hell do people manage to get their shopping for x pounds) because I believed that you were wanting to keep the website low key before you were ready to unleash it on the world !

Well, for what it's worth, my understanding of the thing now is that each and every one of us who has done some testing, whether this was the whole plan or just a recipe or two, should, if they feel that this would be helpful, point out any MSE-er who is asking for help with their grocery budget, towards the thing that worked for us :) That's about the size of it, right ?

I'll happily eat oats in biscuits and cakes, just not as porridge. Not only does it tatse vile but there is also the emotional aspect of it. It was the one and only time in my childhood I was forced to eat something (my parents never forced us, we would go hungry but we were never force fed) and it was a horrible experience (which possibly led to my fear of vomiting). Besides that, as I am not following the menu exactly, I have space to avoid the stuff.

Oh my goodness your grandad sounds like my father. I hated fried eggs as a child and was none to keen on boiled. I did not find out why until I was a teenager and my aunty let it slip that my father force fed me an egg that was not fully cooked when I was a tot.

I have almost caught up again but I am finding it harder because I have so much to do. Summer is always busier with the allotment to deal with.

It may be that a lot of the posters & lurkers on the thread have held back from talking about it because they thought you weren't ready for visitors yet.

    Got it in one :o

Moving swiftly on, we tested saag aloo last night. Very nice - but did you mean to serve it with rice, Weezl ? Cos that's what we did, 100g rice per person, and the portions were immense. I did a full batch, intending it to last us two meals, and served half of it with rice between the two of us, and it was twice as much as we needed (and remember we are big eaters !). I struggled to finish mine - the other half I split into two tubs to go into the freezer, and each tub is still more than what we'd normally have for a meal for two - so I'm wondering if I missed something and if they were supposed to be served without rice ?

Well I am glad I have no children:p- I have just woken up and am typing to you in my pjs. :o:D( and that was after only two glasses of wine!!:o)

I think I get where everybody is coming from. I wasnt clear on the rules of MSE so Morags post was very helpful. Thankyou

Weezl The site is fine I think people can use it now, so dont worry about typos here and there.

I'm having a day off today and I'm not sure what to do with myself..isnt that silly??

people don't feel it's ready. Right, ok I get that. I think I just got to the point where I thought that doing 30 edits a day of minor typos wasn't going to make it significantly more alluring IYSWIM?

I am very happy to keep tweaking those bits until they are perfect, but I didn't think they were the deal-breaker for people in suggesting that shirley has a little look at the site.
    ...
How much more ready would people need it to be to quietly tell a few MSE friends about a work in progress?
I don't think it's that we think it isn't ready - I think we were just all expecting you to say, "Okay everybody, the site's ready now - go and tell everyone about it." (Which obviously you aren't allowed to say here.)

I think we are all clear now though that it is fine to start telling people about it should we so desire.

I think I understand.... (slowly-blame the cheese rinds!)
At least you have a good excuse for the cheese rinds. And given that I've been known to come out with things like frozen fish legs I'm not always the most comprehensible.

d'you know susan, I was mega hoping you'd pop up :)

I get in a tangle with saying things and then you come along with refreshing clarity :)
I'm glad to be useful - sometimes I feel like it's a bit cheeky of me to just pop up and give my opinions as I feel I haven't really contributed a lot since I haven't tested anything - just stuck my oar in every now and then.

ah! that one was meant to be a one pot meal with the potato in the dish being the carb component :o Shall I specify in the recipe it's a one pot wonder?
