Hi
Imagining myself as Shirley who I see as an inexperienced cook, (otherwise she would have worked a lot of this out for herself), I think the batch cooking day is daunting. As an enjoyable part of the weekend I would be happy to make the bread, carrot cake & scones & perhaps a pate.
Helen
I wouldn't (indeed, didn't!) have worked this out for myself. I have always, always cooked from scratch, even when working very long hours and have always looked for inexpensive meals to make. I was at the stage where I thought I don't know that I can get below this now without extreme measures and it was much, much more than the £1.50'ish a day I am now doing after taking part in this thread. Alright, I'll out myself, I was spending on average £10 a day in total for everything, for 2 adults. I hadn't separated out the food element
So, what I am saying is, our Shirley may not necessarily be inexperienced
OT - I now have enough loo rolls in the loft to clad it as insulation. CoOp have had 18 what was Charmin (can't remember the new name) for £5 as their offer, and everytime I went to Heathfield I got several packs! We don't really like the really cheap ones, and I think we end up spending the same amount as the dearer ones because we use that much more of a thin, cheap roll. Shouldn't have to buy more loo roll for about 2 years now!0 -
Much clearer now Allegra0

1. yes, for risi e bisi
2.ok, will change that (it's one orange BTW )
3.Ready Brek / Hot oaty cereal are inter changeable. When I call it Hot oaty cereal people get confused and think I mean to heat it up first, but using the phrase Ready brek might sound like an endorsement... so I'm still not sure on that one! Yes, there's a few big nutritional reasons for using it, which I won't bore you with, but the planner isn't healthy without it
4. I've written the recipes assuming people are using the planner and it's shopping list so yes, it's veg oil, which is rapeseed oil. Again for nutritional reasons. If someone is cherry picking recipes, there's not much we can do about healthy eating, but the whole month stipulates the right kinda oil if you see what I mean?
5. I will add a line about freezing to the top of the recipe page at some point, thanks. Cake tin-wise I think the testers are going to help me out by letting me know what works for them
hope all that helps
I think it could well be useful to say on the nutrition page that the plan uses hot oaty cereal to ensure that the recommended amount of calcium is consumed during the month and that particular type of oil to provide the recommended amount of Omega 3 oils. Maybe also saying something like a meal of sardines on toast would give a cheap boost to Omega 3's as well?
whaddya think?
PS shame you're not about at the mo Weezl as I have time for a PM chat. Am about to make some bread and will look at laptop every now and then to see if you have signed on
Not during Dr Who tho! Although I am still undecided on this whippersnapper of a Dr - not sure if I am a fan, loved the last one - sorry arty0 -

I think I would like to see a picture at the top of something that epitomises the high nutritional value of your plan, rather than something that suggests artificial nutrition. So, the pills do illustrate a point, but if I clicked on it, I would have assumed you were saying I needed them to be healthy. Just my impression
erm.... fruit felt a little misleading as an image, as there's not much eaten fresh...
What about the photo of the sweetcorn that's on the moroccan rice page?
Apart from that though, what do you think of the site? I haven't seen you since we went live I think

Potty, thanks heaps for the offer of helping with the tin sizes, that's been deflating me a bit! How do you suggest we go about that task?
I'm very grateful
I'm also noticing I'm getting less time to be welcoming to newcomers, but you are always so friendly and good at explaining what we're up to, so I'd love it if you could carry on doing that, because we need new testers to rapidly be a part of things
Whaddyareckon?

I think he's brilliant! And this is from a confirmed David Tennant-as-Doctor-Who fan who was distraught at him leaving. I wasn't even going to give this new guy the benefit of the doubt (but I couldn't help myself!)
I've printed off a few of the vegan recipes to try as they look quite nice.0 -
I just popped in to tell you we had the onion flan without the pastry for tea with lightly stir fried veg and chips for dh and ds but sweet potato ones for me. I cooked the mixture like an omelette and even fussy ds liked it.0
