Ok shopping has arrived and i have to say  at the amount of onions and i have only bought half the list as there is only 2 of us so for you that are doing for 4 GOOD LUCK. Weezl i got the SP oranges and lemons and got 3 and 4 respectively dont know if thats good or bad.
The old thread looks like it had been dumped for the time being but its nice to have a shiny new thread to start from.
Can someone help what have i to do with the dried chickpeas? I normally get mine in cans which are from Mr T world food section and quite cheap never bought dried but if thats what Shirleys having then thats what i have bought.
I wish i had had a camera to show you ex's face when shop was delivered and he saw all this veg, pasta, rice and toms and the compartively small amount of meat it was worth seeing. He is all for trying this planner and will be honest about it but i dont think he understands why we are following the plans of a then crazy pregnant Welsh woman that i wouldnt recognise if i met her (unless it was just your hands that i saw) but he is willing to give it a go but i have to confess i do have some backups in case it goes pear shaped and he is still hungry.
Wow i cant half rabbit on can i?:o Sorry folks you can use this instead of a sleeping tablet if you like will stop now

shanks the chickpeas need to be soaked in cold water overnight (use plenty to allow for swelling) and then rinsed and boiled for about an hour in fresh water until tender. They can then be used or portioned up and frozen for later.Sealed pot member 735

Shanks-Was there loads of food?
I'm panicing a little bit about where I will put it. I only have one double cupboard and a shelf in the fridge till Sunday. :eek:Once Mr artybear comes back I will batch cook things at mine then take them to his to freeze and fridge till we eat them.
Gosh I cant wait till I have the luxury of my own kitchen!!!:o

Ermmm yes i bought for 2 and had 3 bigs bags of onions 2 of carrots and 2 of pots. Then there was about 6 tins toms and 4 baked beans. I bought long life UHT milk cause there was no way i had room for the ones on the shopping list then there was the oats and hot oat cereal. So i dont want to scare you but maybe if you have a cardboard box or similar you could put all the dry food in there. There is very little meat so no need to worry on that score and everything should fit on the shelf. Let me know how you get on when is your shop due to arrive?0 -
hmm......its arriving on wednesday morning-i think the dried stuff may well have to share my bedroom with me!
I bought 2 carrots, onions etc..so sounds like we have a similar shop. As long as the fridgable stuff gets in thats the main problem i guess!

Yeah that shouldnt be a prob you just cooking for 2 as well. I found with my shop if it was things i would def use even if not doing this planner i bought the larger of the half and if it was things that i didnt use as much then bought the lower amount if that makes sense.Still it didnt seem like that much when i bought it but hey it will be an adventure and nothing ventured nothing gained and at least we can come on here knowing others will be in the same boat and not thinking "well why buy so many onions in the first place":rotfl:People just dont understand
Gosh this thread is not even 1 day old and already we are on page 9 how did that happen?0 -
