Sorry, another question weezl do you think you can reheat the breakfast porridge?
I like the name flim-flam. Of course it makes me think of the orangey bit in the middle of a jaffa cake.0 -
Weezl, yes a full batch. I got distracted when weighing the ingredients and forgot to halve themSealed pot member 735

Ok asda order done!! Eek...means I actually have to do it. It came to £53 with the extra equipment so not too bad.
I think the thing Im most worried about is storage space. Hey ho!
The Van Gogh programme on BBC is very good btw-I saw the exhibition and it really captures the idea behind it. Just thought Id mention it.

weezl You mean it doesn't make you think of that...? lol, I don't know why then..I'm hoping it's not cause I'm strange.
Yes, we have breakfast at different times, well the children and adults. I was also wondering if I could reheat it, then people could choose between porridge and toast, maybe. Just trying to work it out from all angles.0 -
Okay Weezl, the mixture is in the oven. Remembering the issues that we had converting oaty biscuts to use hot oaty cereal I boiled the fruit, sugar and water a little to try and thicken it up a bit. I also put the oil in bit by bit. 115ml was enough to make is damp and soft and make it stick together in the tin. There is no oaty texture as the hot oat cereal just dissolves into the liquid. I think anymore oil than that and it would have just been far too liquidy but we will see what happens when it comes out of the oven. It has the texture of a biscuit dough on going into the oven and I think it could have stood to be rolled into balls and flattened out with the back of a fork. I am hoping that it doesn't taste oily. 25 mins to go until it comes out of the ovenSealed pot member 735

Good Luck to Weezl and all the testers, and everyone who has contributed to this thread.
I am looking forward to trying some of the recipes, but as I am only cooking for myself will be reducing the quantities to single portions to start with to see if I like them.

Wow a person goes to work for a day and look how fast the thread has moved on.
Frankie you seem to have done a massive amount of cooking well done.
BTW my name is Shanks and i will be doing the planner for myself and ex (he wont be doing the breakfasts and prob not a lot of the lunches). I am doing this mainly to help Shirley but also to cut down on my monthly shop.
My shopping doesnt come til this evening so will be doing my batch cooking on Wed this is unusual for me as i just normally cook on a day to day basis and may do that for some things. I have a job interview on Wed morning so will be doing it in the pm.
Looking forward to this and for the support on here.

And it's nice to see a paul merrett recipe featuring in a plan that's actually frugal! (Did anyone watch economy gastronomy? Boy oh boy!)
I had the book for Christmas. I have yet to make anything from it cus it doesn't seem very thrifty to meSuch a waste.
Keep up the good work everybody- exciting times!
(Weezl can you please just clarify what the posting situation is for those of not taking part in this stage of challenge? Am I supposed to post here or on old thread? Thanks, I'm not sure which to do)
