freecycle rant

Hi
Why are half the people that ask for things you offer on freecycle (or freegle) so grateful and thankful and really do appreciate it and then the other half are just rude.
Put a 28inch tv on and people just say 'ill take it' like it is there right, they seems to forget the please and thank yous. I reply and then nothing from them, next person arranges to pick it up and so you wait in all day, nothing not even bothered to call to say they aren't coming. I think people are so rude.
Fingers crossed the next person i offer it to is one of the grateful ones.

I wouldn't even waste my breath on someone who didn't even send a humble and grateful message!!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
I got refused when i went to join,why?0

The people I've dealt with have been polite and reasonable, however my friend has had trouble with people on freecycle. Seems you just have to get lucky.
Manners cost nothing - it really bugs me when people cannot use them!
Good luck with your next person."We are the change that we seek."0 -

I now use freegle through yahoo rather then freecycle. I think it is like the original freecycle, it has much more people on freegle.

Many groups changed to freegle when the US owners of freecycle laid down some new rules.
Mine changed to freegle but i gave up as I was fed up of having people say they were coming to get something and then just not bothering.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I have had same problem as soolin, people say they want the item, but when you email asking them when they can collect that's the last you hear. I have of course met some very charming, polite and grateful people, but have now decided not to offer on Freegle any more.If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0

I stopped using this place now. I have given so much away
Fridges
Freezers
Sky Boxes
Modems
Routers.
But never get anything back. All I wanted was a tv for my son. Everytime one pops up its always gone. Even after putting a wanted ad in there no one responded. So I cant be bothered now0 -
I've put loads on freecycle and am now quite selective in who I pass things onto. Ill mannered illiterates who can't manage a please or thank you can forget it, when there are plenty of genuine people who are truly appreciative. Recently I put 4 separate posts in fairly quick succession and got the same e-mail from one person who obviously just went for everything - in her message she didnt even refer to what I was offering, just that she liked 'my item'. I reported that to freecycle and have since advertised on there without hearing from her.
Sadly there are a lot of rude scroungers out there, making it harder for the genuine people to get a look in, and that's a real shame0 -
my local freeshare is getting ludicrous. more than 50% are now wanted ads, and it's often high-value goods that they're after too, or specifics such as "wanted: gaming PC for internet gaming" or "wanted: washing machine, table and chairs, fridge, and bunkbeds".
I've pretty much given up replying to offers for things as I've NEVER ever had a reply despite always asking politely and offering to collect at their convenience.0 -
I've only had good experiences with Freecycle. We got a divan bed base and a brand new sleepnight mattress for my sons room from two people ... both were lovely people who i was genuinely thankful to. I think it entirely depends on your area and whether or not you lucky. Plus you have to remember the original reason for freecycle ... to keep stuff out of landfills. Granted, courtesy costs nothing, but even if someone isn't full of thanks - if they take something it keeps it out of the landfill.0
