Managed it at last Amanita. Thank you so much.

You're welcome. As a freecycle list "owner" I've had lots of practice getting people on and off the site!
  • I love Freegle, I've met some lovely people some of whom have become friends. I furnished my dining room entirely via Freegle and with exactly the type and style of furniture I wanted but couldn't afford to buy new.

Also met some right numpties too :rotfl:

Offered: EMPTY boxes (did contain) crystal glasses. She turned up as arranged then asked why the boxes were empty?!?

The I'll take it-ers get nowt from me.
No I will not phone you to arrange collection from me.
If you are not polite when you do pick up, you will never receive another item from me.
    I'm not that way reclined

Jewelry? Seriously? Sheldon you are the most shallow, self-centered person I have ever met. Do you really think that another transparently-manipu... OH, IT'S A TIARA! A tiara; I have a tiara! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me!
  • I remember when I offered a lot of clothing and shoes my daughter no longer wanted. When they were collected, the girl stood outside my house, sorted through it all and then threw what she didn't want into my bin (and the wrong one at that!!!). She then had the cheek to ask for more stuff when I had another load to get rid of, by reminding me that she had previously had clothing and shoes from me. :rotfl:

If I put something on freecycle and get several requests, I try to offer it to someone who has given things away themselves, if possible. I usually find there's more chance of that person being reliable and turning up as arranged. There's a search box where you can check out names, so if you get a request from, for example, lisa1234, you should be able to see what they've offered (or wanted) in the past. Shame it's had to come to spying on people, but I find it helps weed out timewasters.
  • We've used Freecycle quite a lot for baby things and have received some fantastic stuff, such as a baby bath, changing unit, huge bags of clothes, a pushchair. We don't earn much so Freecycle and eBay have enabled us to get everything we need for our little boy. We haven't yet got anything to offer but we certainly would in the future - we've had nothing but positive experiences thus far. The cheek of some of the stories on this thread though!
    Slummy mummy!
