October 2011 brides

Hello all, another October Bride to Be that would like to join in!

I'm another getting married on 29th of October. Heres my story so far....

We got engaged in January, spoke about a wedding but it got v. expensive v. quickly. OH has a HUGE family who all are 'required' to be there ALL day. All 90 of them. Neither of us wanted a big formal bash but it was soon made very apparent that it was expected. So we put the idea on the back burner and concentrated on moving and saving a bit of money for a holiday this year.

Back when we got engaged OH M&D said they would help out with some money, the same about they gave his brother. My Mum also offered to contribute a bit but when we looked into it the money wasn't even going to cover the service and venue. We went and booked a holiday on 15/05/2011 to Cuba. It looks amazing...

So we went to his M&D's on Saturday (21st). They said they thought, and so did the rest of the family, that it would be best if they 'let' us have the small ceromony and party that we wanted to do originally, and make the Cuba holiday our honeymoon. So that gave us the green light, and a firm budget, to get going and organise!

So far we have sorted:

Ceremony - Local Reg Office - approx 30 guests - Booked
Reception - Local Cocktail Bar (They also trew a DJ in for £100.00. Awesome!) - Approx 150 - Booked
Invites - I'm making them Wahoo! Coming in a about 35p each
Flowers - Just a bridal bunch - Cousin of a friend so having them as a present
Food & Cake - OH Aunty, no prices discussed yet but hopefully she'll do us a decent deal!
Dress fittings arranged - OH cousin works in the shop, hoping for a cheeky discount
Cars - OH different cousin owns 2 classic something or others, again being done as a present
Photographer - Didn't want a 'formal' one so OH other Aunty dabbles and will take some pics for us
Hair - My SIL is doing it - as a gift
Suits - OH is sorting

We're not having a sit down meal, favours, sweet table, floral arrangements etc. But seriously, what have I missed? I feel far too chilled out and far too organised, and it's only been 4 days!

So if i've missed anything, please let me know.

Now can I get very excited about it with you all please?

Welcome aboard mayfair...and wow, so nice to hear of somebody with supportive helpful family letting you do your own thing...pretty rare commodity when you read some of the horror stories on here!
You've got all major bases covered and anything else is just detail. And Cuba is pretty amazing to look forward to for honeymoon

Wedding Cake - Mum making
Wine - purchasing in next few weeks
Rings - planned for July
Minimoon - booked
Honeymoon - booked


Just over 4 months to go now - can't believe how fast it's coming around! :T

I'm an October bride too. Got engaged last month and we're getting married on 22nd October.

The budget for absolutely everything is £2500. So far we have a venue, and the registrar booked. That was a scary £300! But suppose we can't save on that. So excited!

Wedding cake on the other hand....never realised how expensive that is!

Im getting married 8th October and so far booked church and venue thats it :eek::eek: really should get a move on just ordered invites suppose that is a start lol.

Im 8th Oct too but Im the opposite I have everything sorted and now I am just waiting for the day to come round!

I am 8 October too - and feeling pretty prepared. Just waiting til we get a bit closer to start thinking more about details we can't sort right now. Starting to get quite excited though!

Wow are you from Leicester? I am originally but moved cities over 3 years ago....

Plans are going well, sent out my handmade invites at the beginning of June and everyone loves them! What day you getting married?
