After all, today turned out not to be a very good one. I suppose it is because the whole thing is wearing me down. I have been thinking obout and presenting this operation as very light and easy. But it was two hours surgery. So recovery ought to be expected to take a bit of time. Do I have petience to get there? Do I heck. The thing that kill me most is the helplessness and the fact that the world cannot be as I want it (as it should be really) because I cannot do it. And other people don't seem to do or care about the 'world according to Firewalker'.
As can be expected OH got it; a full blown tantrum. Rather funny, in fact. Since I can't jump up and down on my feet (for obvious reasons) I was jumping up and down on my but, sitting in bed. It was all about taking DS3 to play; and I was right. Were I able to walk longer and to play tennis and badminton he would have been out so much earlier.
Anyway, my life is not good; my feelings are dark. Just watching The Secret with son; let's hope this will make it better.

I've just hit the two week mark and I'm finally feeling able to do things but nowhere near back to normal (I blame the pills - lethargy, insomnia, tiredness, grumpiness...). Having just had the first pretty much normal day, with all visitors gone, all work in the house finally finished I have been to reflexology (only the third time I've driven) and have realised I'm shattered.
So take it easy. Sleep lots, read trashy novels, watch DVDs and accept that you have to live by someone else's rules for a bit (so hide).
Let OH and DS3 do boy stuff together and try not to let it irritate you when they decide they want to hang around the house not doing much... They're boys...0 -
What operation have you had Fire walker?

FW, sometimes we are forced to rest and take stock of things. Take this time to relax. Greenbee is right let the boys do boy things whilst you and your sister catch up. Leave them to it. They will have fun in their own way. DS3 wont care if he is out later, he might like to be slow sometimes
As my nephew told me a few years ago "Take a Chill Pill why dont you?"Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow -- Mary Anne Radmacher0 -
FW -Any operation where you have been put under will take it out of you, and it only really hits you a few days after the op, so it's hitting you now. It is difficult for someone who is so in control to be at the mercy of others for things, but you need to just accept it for a few more days. You will be up and at 'em soon enough, so try and chill for a little bit longer. Look on the bright side - you possibly saved yourself from much more serious illness by having the op. It will be good for the men/boys of the household to get on with it themselves - maybe they will realise just how much you actually do for them! Spend as much time with your sister as you can too because you don't see her that often do you? And gradually you will feel better and be able to get on with the other things you wanted to do while there. Be well, be still, be happy. xSealed pot Challenge 2011 member No 1241 - Final total £154.21

"They" - that is the medical profession - used to say that the third day after an op is when it really hits you. My experience is like yours - I think "It's done, now let's get on with life!".
Only it doesn't work that way. Let the menfolk look after themselves for a few days, they'll appreciate you all the more.
I also believe that our minds, bodies and spirits are so entwined that they affect one another so your impatient frame of mind may hinder your recovery. As Cheri's nephew says "Take a chill pill!"
PS Don't do as I do, do as I say. :rotfl:But how can you know what you want till you get what you want and you see if you like it?0 -
OK Missus - time to start developing another habit. The one of being still - only I think we need to occupy your brain as well.
Can I suggest a quick download - and then a retreat to your headphones whenever you feel stressed.
I know you hate being out of action - but you are all right, the boys are all right, your sister is all right ..................... yo are just a terrible patient (but you already know and acknowledge that)
So time for a little calm and FW inner space.

Thank you, my friends. Having scratched most of the night (it is the super sexy circulation stocking) I just got up. Yes, a chill pill may be in order (and thanks MG will download this one).
Beanielou, I had a varicose vein striped - and it is very annoying. I can't run, can't play tennis and badminton, can't even walk very far, have a killer stocking that makes my leg terribly itchy. Mostly, I don't think I can still concentrate very well.
Back to my novel I think.

In a funny old way doesn't life present some wonderful learning opportunities? So it will help your recovery to exercise enough and also to stay still for a lot of the time ... so what is so bad about taking time to just sit and be?
It's not your normal style for sure, but the world is full of colour and detail ... as MG says baby steps0
