Where does the Universe come into this? I have been getting up at 6.30 and starting to write at 6.40 for two morning now. When I decided that I would like to go to the cinema I was thinking 'is the movie going to end in time so I could go to bed?'.
People need to rest to be creative - I have started going to bed by about 10.30 pm (rather than 12.30-1.00) and all is working well. Not sure whether I am highly productive but productive nevertheless.
But being productive isn't the only thing in life - your days away last week are proof of that.
Oh, and today a colleague phoned and asked me to lead on an article for a really top journal. Let us put it this way: they rarely accept articles that are over two pages long. But what an article this will have to be! Feel excited as a dog with a bone (my husband's statement, not mine).
Fantastic!
And I am getting an iPad from work - have finally learned how to satisfy my gadget ediction from time to time but without paying any of my hard earned, after tax cash. Well done me - learning and learning well.

I have to say that getting up early and starting to write first thing in the morning (academic stuff mostly) is starting to work. In fact, I think that I am probably ready to push it a bit further back - let say get up at 6.00 and start. Have been reading about forming writing habits and the recommended course of action is to establish a routine. So mine is settling into: get up, make a cup of coffee and start writing.
One distraction I need to deal with is checking my Google Analytics stats every morning. Will have to stop and check it only once a week or something for two reasons: a) takes time; and b) the way my graphs are going affects the way my day goes. If my graphs are in 'the right direction' (visits, visitors and time on site up; bounce off rate down) I feel happy and get on with the rest; but if they are all wrong my mood goes down as well, silly thoughts enter my head and the day is not as good as the promise of it.
Anyhow, back to work now - although I had a break through on a paper I have been stuck on for several months. Now, writing it is a 'technical problem' as I call it.

Yay to breakthroughs, good for you! And thats sensible to stop checking analytics that way - if its affecting you so negatively like that, its not a good thing to do.
Hope today goes well.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
My heart is still racing and my blood pressure is probably so high that I could be kept in hospital. This is highly rare case these days. What happened?
I was pauing my CC on line (of course the full monthly payment) and had to confirm the source card; hence needed my wallet. Couldn't find it; looked everywhere. Visualised my steps when we were back from the cinema that did not happen - nothing; checked my bag three times - no wallet. I was already seeing someone having a ball on my cards; or handing them over to the lads selling tickets (Your Wish is My Comand style).
Then took deep breaths, looked in my bag again - and there it was! How did I miss this one twice? Calm, calm....

Day is not going as I would want it to go. Have been procrastinating again and suspect that the procrastination is because I started wrong. Got up at 6.30 but instead of starting on the paper I checked the blog stats (not too bad but shall be even better), my e-mail etc. - well you know the drill. Wasted loads of time so not much has been accomplished even now.
Checking my e-mail brought good financial news though. Doing a little bit extra work with some students and my employer are offering additional payment - £500 before tax (probably a day work at Firewalker's level of efficiency...well, most of the time anyway). Not bad - I need to get this paper out though.
I am a magnet for good will and prosperity; I am a magnet for good will and prosperity...

You are indeed FW.
Remember - if you're not having a good day - a new 24 hours can start whenever you need it to....0 -
Glad you found your purse FW ... and calm. Can understand accessing the blog stats daily and also how it affects your mood. It just goes to show how important it is to you. Can you switch to checking your stats later in the day ie all your frogs must be eaten first.
I so love Cheery's post, never heard that one before but so true why should our new day begin the moment we wake up.0
