Oh and FW, your blog does not smell of old leather and have cobwebs :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:. I don't think I can cope with many more finance blogs written by young American men :rotfl:. I have learnt a lot from your blog, all about net worth (our's looks a lot better than I ever thought on paper) and the importance of income-generating assets and passive income (of which we have neither). I have learnt that I am a "well-to-do" but... I'm still flat broke each month :rotfl:.
Good luck with your car-boot or ebaying.
Thrifty, I have to explain something about the "well-to-do" bit. In philosophy of science there is a theory that claims that objects (physical or social) have latent 'powers' - in other words there is the possibility of something to 'become' or not: depending on other things.
The list of features of the "not so well to do" which were on my blog mean that if you have them you are likely to be a not well to do. Interestingly, I have come to realise that income is pretty much irrelevant if one's habits are these of a 'not well to do'.
Now, not having these means that one can be well to do - they just have to start looking at other conditions that get them there. And well to do doesn't mean obsenely rich - it means 'having enough and than some'.
Also you said 'broke' which is one of the linguistic habits of the well to do - the not well to do say 'poor'.
Have a good evening.

Maru, love your board. Where did you get the frog? I want one for OH.

Thank you, Se. I would like to do it as an experiment in personal growth, really. Otherwise, I have been to a carboot sale only once and disliked the experience with passion. But then we also have too much stuff and I would like to dispose of it responsibly - without clogging landfills.
My more pressing matter is that I have couple of very nice evening gowns I would like to sell (never wear them; not me at all) and a large number of pairs of shoes (most really high end and of course worn once or twice). Have no idea how to do that - tried e-bay last year and it all came to nothing.

Gilly, thank for reminding me that - there comes a point when it is easy to forget that what most people are looking for is content - both useful and entertaining. Most people don't look for fancy themes. In fact I am considering a minimalist design - need to think ab out it.
And yes we are still here - good job I did the shopping and there is some chicken in the oven. Our friends may not have appreciated not having any food because I thought the rapture is happening and they will be in bliss.

FW - If I remember rightly you live around the Manchester area? I know that there is a dress agency in the city centre (back of the big Department store -might be John Lewis and near to the courts I think) I cant remember the name of it. However if you google dress agencies for your area I am sure that you will find some. Some great ones in Knutsford and that area. They work by agreeing an amount of commission for selling your items. They then display them in their shop. So if they sell something they take the commission, if they dont you get the item back. Nothing to lose in trying. They tend to only take really nice things and designer outfits. They do also sell shoes and accessories. Also get a better price for them than ebay especially if you take them to one of the cheshire set places. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. If that doesn't succeed put up pictures at the university around Ball Time. Everyone is desperate for dresses then.
FW i love your blog. It makes me think but i have been too busy to focus in depth recently. In the summer hols i am going to start looking for ideas on how to make more money and sort out a plan for the future. Please keep up all of your hard and inspiring work.
I am going to try to do a carboot too. I have lots of paintings and nice stuff that doesn't go with my new colour scheme. Again am leaving it till the holiday. I dont have a car but i will find a way to declutter. My house is clear but garage is full of lots of bits.Aiming for a minimal spend 20220 -

Thanks, TMIF, but I have some buttons to saw on and it has not been done for couple of years now. So....no I am afraid; crafts are not my cup of tea.
