Excellent stories on here! If John Glenn could go back into orbit at the age of 75 or whatever he was, we can do lots more ... I'm checking out that blog, FW.

A quick note to tell you that I am here, in my very strange hotel room in Paris. I stay in this hotel often but this time I have a room at the top - the bathroom is up some really steep and narrow stairs; so really hoping that I will not need to get up during the night or I'll break my neck.

All meetings are timesucks but this one is something else. These people argues for 30 minutes whether they need to meet at the end of August or not. I was so bored I thought I am going to burst; thankfully had my Kindle with me so started reading something. Rude I know, but much better than me have an outburst...

On the positive, I realised that me saying that I don't like Paris is a result of me focusing too much on where I step. True, Paris is covered ion dog poo and other rubbish. But if one looks about this level it is glorious.

Hi FW, I have been to Paris 3 times and IMHO, thats 3 times too many. The attitude of the people seems to range from aloof to complete distain for anone not french (and they accuse the english of being zenophobic)!

I am 47, and with all the !!!! tha I have had recently (especilly the last two weeks or so) I am beginning to feel my age like never before. I am sleeping more and finding motivating myself hard. SO much so that I seem to work, sleep and the rest is just filler. Stay safe young lady

Erm, hope you haven't broken your neck, FW! And I think reading a kindle in response to that sort of craziness in the meeting is very appropriate, actually :)

Arrived back home yesterday at 19.20 which was perfect because I saw LB playing outside when approaching in the taxi. He has got (paid for with the money he received for his birthday from different friends, instead of presents) these new shoes called heeleys. Have you heard about them? Very clever and look great fun – a combination between roller skates and shoes that have two wheels each shoe and appear really hard to master. So he looked a bit down because he had been down on his bottom a number of times (and not wearing his snowboarding protective gear which would have helped).

The journey was un-eventful – all went smoothly; I suppose all my bad luck with travel was had before Christmas last year. After dinner I felt so tired that I went straight to bed and was asleep by 22.15 – sad I know. I had forgotten how good it feels to wake up because one has had enough sleep? Note to self: go to bed early (or on time) most of the time.

We don’t have plans for the weekend except that our friends who also leave across the road from us are coming to dinner tonight. We will roast two chickens (with lemon inside as OH does them) and I’ll make olive ragout using a recipe from the French Women Don’t Get Fat book. Although, just having come back from Paris I can confidently say that they do – it is just that they don’t seem to get fat so often and so much as us here.

Apart from that I intend to:

· Finish reading a book I suppose I’ll be telling you about;
· Smarten up the blog – too many typos, too little patience and look like something smelling of old leather and spider-webs. I am not sure about making it to look good but I am certain that its look has to express my essence – and it is not old leather and spider-webs.
· Clean the house – my part of the job is to clean the kitchen and the bathrooms (three of those are my responsibility)
· Do shopping
· Sort out my shoes and clothes – choose what I want to keep; what goes to charity shops and what goes to the tip.

De-cluttering is becoming a big project for me; and achieving lightness generally. I have become a rotund over-consumer – and this applies to everything. Too much stuff, too much food, too much work – not enough space and time for lightness and joy. Becoming a minimalist is probably far away for me but I am going to remodel my physical and mental environment according to the following rule: ‘Don’t keep anything you don’t find useful or beautiful.’

Little steps were already made – I travelled really light to Paris. I had only a small rucksack and most of the luggage was work (papers, my computer and computer charger). Apart from that I had two t-shirts and two pairs of underwear. Made the whole thing so much easier.

Apparently, any planning from now on is pointless: the end of the World is today at 6 pm.

Let me know what you decide - I am struggling with this one myself. Cleaning is definitely off, though:rotfl:.

It's not the end of the world, that is later this year :D

today is the enchantment or some such word, I forget. Someone told me yesterday. It is where the heathens get left behind and the good true Christians get lifted to heaven.

Only quoting what the websites are saying, I have nothing against any race, colour, creed, religious preference etc.

Heeleys - they have been around for years now, surprised they are still going strong, banned in shopping centres. But when you see the kids who have mastered the art.... better than roller skates I think? But for everday wear, not good on the feet, actually damages the way they walk. They have to walk differently because of the rollerballs on the sole.
