I see where you are coming from, but is she sharing the 3x earnings with him? If not, is it fair that she has 3x as much spending money as him to buy herself nice things and has a rent-free ride in a house that he has sacrificed a lot of life's luxuries to pay off?

OK, it's not her fault that she earns more, but it's not his fault she doesn't own property. It's either all or nothing really. Either you open a joint account and pool all of your wages and share all of your money equally, or she keeps her bigger wage to herself and pays you an amount of money in considertaion of the fact you are providing her with a roof over her head that she couldn't get for free anywhere else.
