Hi all, just checking in and have a confession!!!!! went shopping yesterday!
Since i have decided to go down the dmp route everything has just happened at once, my car broke down and needed mot that cost me £300, my glasses snapped in two so that was £150 for 2 new pairs seems expensive i know but i wear them all the time so got the anti glare and scratch lenses, but these will do me at least another 2 years so i wont have to worry about paying for these, bought a new printer as ours is completely broke. My theory is that once we've started the dmp we wont be able to buy these things so better get them now........am i crazy?
Think the guilt has set in. O yeah and it will be more money next week as OH off work all week so we've promised the kids days out and lots of fun......o im making myself feel sick now.LBM - March 2010Paddle no. 15 :j0 -

Hi Andy
Just be glad you'd the money to sort out what you needed sorting! No torturing yourself with guilt now!
Our pathetic emergency fund went in the first month of our dmp with car and mot/service....our printer's gone and done itself in and it'll have to stay that way!
Enjoy your days out next week too.....:DDMP mutual support thread member 371LBM Jan 2010DMP Paddle No 20 -
:eek:Just had bad moment in supermarket.....wouldn't take the lovely blue coop card - but it'd happened to the woman infront too. I knew there was all the money that should be left, left in the account
I was a very red faced easter bunny! Too many people out shopping it seems and crashing the system, so had to dash off and get cash...Ooooo the stress!

I've had problems with my Co-op card a couple of times - it was refused online, and once in town. Online my husband's card wouldn't work either, but in town he then paid with his card, and it's a joint account.
Both times there was more than enough money in the account. After the online refusal I rang the Co-op and they said that the request hadn't even reached them, it wasn't them that declined it.
So no idea what's happening there! But even more of an incentive for me to take cash out for everything. No back up cards anymore if one is refused!0 -
Well I asked him and his main point is that you need to find someone equivalent to him in your area, who could come and assess your whole situation and find out if you're getting all the benefits you can be. He asks if you know if there's a Family Information Service or Children's Service in your area, or a local carer's centre? These would be the people to talk to.
He also says:
Have you had a carer's assessment?
Is there a parent carer support group in your area?
Hope some of that helped - I know we all need everything we can get on here!
Thanks for the info, got no idea if theres any of the above near me. Im sure there is so will check it out next wed when we go to see the health visitor. No havent had a carers assessment, just got the allowance and feeling a tad bit guilty really. My DS only has developmental probs and isnt really 'disabled' as such but I do worry about childcare as hes so far behind what he should be, I just hate the idea of a normal childminder looking after him and my parents just wouldnt be able to cope with a baby now. We just had him put on the special needs register which I find difficult to think about. Its so hard when he looks normal but isnt and now hes getting older, its so apparent how behind he his. Sorry to rant on, I get pretty emotional when talking about him.
