Feeling overwhelmed

Emsywoo, when I was posting on your other thread over on the families board, I was thinking you should get rid of the dog, but didn;t want to suggest it, in case it was too much pressure on you. I think you are doing absolutely the best thing for all of you, and not selfish at all. Poppy need a home which has the time to spend on her, which you definitely won't now, as a one parent family. Maybe in the years to come, when things get better, you can think about getting another dog, but this is the right decision for now. It's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your window

Emsy the word selfish is often bandied about as an insult, but you do not have to see if that way. Sometimes it is important to prioritise your own needs - like now when you have sole charge of a young child, a puppy and another little one brewing!
If you never did anything 'selfish' like eat, drink or sleep you would soon not be any use to anyone. In the case of a older sick animal often the most loving thing you can do for them is let go (PTS), same if you have a young healthy pet that you are unable to dedicate your time to (rehome). Your mental wellbeing is as important as your physical health, anything that can help you cope can only be the right thing to do. :grouphug: Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -
I echo what most people have said, you are being sensible and doing what is right, and that is what matters.

The words "between a rock and a hard place" come to mind, and there's nothing selfish about that, it's just getting by and trying to make the best of a bad situation even when it feels horrible. Just do what you think is right (or the least bad option when there are no good ones), that's all you can do.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -

It won't be long before she finds a good home. I do homechecks for various rescue centres and lab puppies will be in huge demand.
We have a lab/springer cross rescue dog, we got him when he was 4 (he's 8 now) we often say it would have been wonderful to see him as a puppy, but it's hard to imagine him being even more appealing than he is right now.Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one birdThe only time Chuck Norris was wrong was when he thought he had made a mistakeChuck Norris puts the "laughter" in "manslaughter".I've started running again, after several injuries had forced me to stop0 -
You're a brave and kind person!
I am sure you are just in bits at present but in time you will feel ok about your decision. Life is tough for you, you have acted in the best interests of your family and dog.
Well done Emsy.Norn Iron Club member 4730 -

She is apparently going to a foster home for 48 hours, to check I haven't passed off a dangerous dog I suppose, but she does already have a home to go to, she will be there before the weekend.0
