    update

Spoke to consumer direct this morning and there is a clear breach of contract , not with sony , but with the supplier .
The option for the os , influenced my purchase !
There will also be an issue regarding the future sales of these "phat " machines , false advertisement . it should state now on all "phat" machines to be sold , that sony will remove some features from this product when updated .

Sending a recorded letter with my issues and i 'll wait 14 days for a response ;)

    I'll keep you peeps updated

Under sales of goods act you will be entitled to a remedy, but under these circumstances, the only remedy would be to collect the unit give you a partial refund depending how long you have had the unit (how long have you had it?)

Presumably with reference to the "False Advertising" they will just stop advertising this capability.

It was purchased nov 09 , online from sainsburys.

"Presumably with reference to the "False Advertising" they will just stop advertising this capability."

Surely all suppliers now have to disclose this before sale . On the machine , so consumers know exactly what features are included .

As a consumer , i have been taken for a ride . If i knew this feature was being dis-continued i would not have purchased it .

Again, not really seeing the wood from the trees here! They advertised the FAT PS3s (which are no longer available to buy new) with the Other OS feature and have now taken it away, that is the point of the argument! The new SLIM PS3s do not have the Other OS feature, they never have. To my knowledge you cannot purchase FAT PS3s from any store or online so that view is void!

So is this illegal ,have i got grounds to complain and be compensated ?

I think it is disgraceful the way the shop that flogged you this toy have acted. I would contact trading standards immediately and let them go round their with the police and kick in their door. A nice easter weekend in the slammer would make them think twice about miss selling again. While there are in they, we should loot the placew as well.

Word on the street is Hotz and his croonies have found a simple bypass already and on the way to creating an update of their own if you want to trawl the geeks sites compromising your PC - and then compromising your PS3 - and then a lifetime ban from PSN - and then a new update from Sony - and then your machine dies - and then you get a life and stop crying over spilt milk.

Use your PS3 for games and your PC for brainstorming.
Save saynoto0870.com in your favorites, and stop giving companies more £££ dialling 0870 numbers when you can dial freephones or cheaper alternatives.:j

Wow, okay. I stand corrected. I thought they were all gone. I suppose my post holds 'some' merit just not as much as I thought.

right so legit users using the OOSF (other OS feature,to save typing from now)
are left with the options of losing the feature, keeping it and not updating their console and thus losing massive functionality or hacking it
so legitimate users lose out in every option
