Yellow Dog was a bit rubbish in the end. I took it off and it doesn't bother me now.Squirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.

Ive had all the past machines modified mainly to save money and let the family play more games - but I want to see the other end of the scale and see what happens if we let the big mothership win the battle so to speak and keep money flowing to the makers of games and other development - the games arena has moved on and will continue to do so with investment . We are the investors.
Anyway the nature of the linux users means they will just have two machines one online for gaming ect and the secret one in the wee small hours plotting their revenge against the big bad enemy (lol).Save saynoto0870.com in your favorites, and stop giving companies more £££ dialling 0870 numbers when you can dial freephones or cheaper alternatives.:j0 -

And I'm personally in favour of f***ing off Sony to safeguard genuine customers who have bought a device that will no longer perform as advertised.
Sony should stop penalising their customers and treating them with contempt, as they did when they illegally (as I understand it) hacked people's operating systems in the Sony BMG rootkit d!bâcle of 2005.
Anyway, this isn't necessarily a legal problem for Sony if they didn't sell the PS3 as a device on which Linux could be installed. It may, however, be an issue for retailers if they advertised the fact that Linux can be used on PS3s and didn't make it clear that Sony could withraw this capability at any time.0 -

Well at least your in the minority. I think whilst it will cause a rumble, it's not going to be a sorely missed feature. My farts hospitalize small children0 -

I didn't realise there had been any research into the matter - where did you get the statistics from?0 -

How predictable... I don't think we need a swingometer.
Whilst their isn't any stats that I am aware of, I'd be confident that in a poll of PS3 users, my point would be proven.
Linux is hardly a mainstream OS in the consumer world despite the efforts of some of the more popular distros. The likelihood of your average PS3 user missing Linux is slim. Linux remains the domain of the geeky.
Another widely acknowledged fact is that when a Linux user feels that he / she doesn't like what is being said about Linux, they take a stance similar to an Apple user and behave like their mother has been disrespected. My farts hospitalize small children0 -
Do you download asap or wait until others have done it first and see if theres any other problems - I always ponder when new patches are released whether on Pc or games console.Save saynoto0870.com in your favorites, and stop giving companies more £££ dialling 0870 numbers when you can dial freephones or cheaper alternatives.:j0

I'm personally in favour of !!!!ing of a few yellow dog users, to safeguard Sony's ten year PS3 plan, and my investment. Anyone that claim that the only reason they bought this console was because of this capability, is talking out of their hat.
Get off the compo wagon and grow a pair, and stop cashing those Giro's or whatever it is you do these days.
What a complete doosh bag , if anybodies talking out of there hat you are pal !
The point ! and if we could stick to it it would more helpful.
Cashing giro cheques , what planet are you on ! are you ssuming i'm on the rock and role ?
How about if sony took away somthing in the system you used ? what would you do ? complain or put up and shut up, i think it would be the latter.
which say's a lot about you !:D what happened to consumers sticking together and fighting for our rights , i guess dreamypuma likes getting shafted everytime he buys something !
ps Stop bringing piracy into it , its not a valid argument. i paid for a machine with features and now its being removed which i think is a con , simple as that .0 -

What about the people who run Linux on huge clusters of PS3s then?
I haven't used the otheros feature on my ps3 for a while, but it did come in useful when my PC stopped booting properly.0 -
Some people just really don't get it do they. Who decided this was just about compensation? Idiot! This is not about security, piracy, hacking or any of that garbage PR crap that they are feeding you, this is about PRINCIPLES! If Sony are allowed to remove a feature which was ADVERTISED as a selling point of the product and then a while later remove this feature, that makes the product 'not fit for purpose', 'bait and switch' comes to mind! Regardless of the fact if you use the feature or not, then what kind of precedent will this start? Next it will be the ability to watch Blu-Rays, then the ability to save your games, then they will lock you to only the channels THEY want you to watch, then .... When will it end? This goes far far far beyond just that of a games console. They sold a product with a feature, which they are now taking away, after you've already paid for it! You are born with the ability to see and hear, one day you are given the choice; keep your eyes or your ears, but loose the other. Which would you choose? You buy a brand new shiny sports car, two years later the manufacturer comes to your house, removes the engine and tells you 'it's for your own good, just in case you crash'. Garbage!0
