I always seem to get a hole in the right hand glove so I tend to end up with an excess of good left hand gloves. So I just turn a (new) left hand glove inside out then it becomes a right hand one.0 -
I'm still using DS's terry nappies to wipe down after washing the floor or cleaning sinks or appliance fronts and he's 15 now. I use one to dry the car windows after washing the car too. All those surfaces look cleaner for longer, having been dried. I cut the pretty bits from old birthday cards to use as bookmarks or gift labels. Those of you who save buttons, if you have some sets of matching buttons like those on baby clothes or just unusual ones, they are easier to reuse if kept together on a tied thread. Saves hunting for the others when you need them and you know whether you have enough to complete your project. I was amused by the idea of using a rolling pin to squeeze the last bit out of a tube. I'm too lazy to look for a rolling pin, so I use the toothbrush handle and squash the tube from the bottom to the top while it is lying flat and I am holding onto the tail end with the other hand. When there is just a little left I cut the top off like the previous posters.0

My best so far is taking a bulb of garlic, a lemon and tub of black pepper to Spain in my luggage cos last time I'd gone they were only selling lemons & garlic in packs, and I'd bought the pepper then as well. Oh, and obviously a jar of coffee, mixed blend (depending on the brands in hotels I've visited recently)

Anyone else sat with extra layers on and socks instead of putting the heating on  my gas and electric bills through the roof (just come in) so trying to cut back wherever I can. Must admit have been a bit paranoid and although they have more on for bed have checked on the boys several times just to check they are warm enough as I'm feeling it tonight especially. Need to do something to get that bill down! One day I might be more organised...........

Am I the only one who alternates use of the rings on the hob so they wear out evenly :embarassed:
Are there any OS quirky things that you are convinced only you do?
Dare you tell us?
A friend's mum at primary school washed sandwich bags
Great thread.
I do a lot of the things already mentioned, including saving scraps from sewing. I even keep the snipped off threads to make stuffing for cushions. Since I moved in my with my boyfriend, however, the old clothes go to his mum who slices them up to make rag rugs. This is a source of friction, as many men in the family don't agree with her about when an item of clothing is worn enough to become a 'rag'.
I have made quilts out of old jeans and scraps of worn flannel shirts. Don't have a button box but I reckon it's just a matter of time!
I also cut open toothpaste and moisturiser tubes to get the last bits out.
Whenever I make pavlova I often keep the yolks submerged in milk until they either go off or I work up the energy to make custard or ice cream.'Everyone loves to read but it can be a real nuisance when you lose your place.
