I've never posted on here before, but have such fun reading this over the last two nights I just have to admit my latest scrooge activity. I work in a large office on night shift. Unually I'm the only one in there and before the cleaners come in I pilfer all the rubbish bins for used coffee cups from the machines to use a plant pots in the greenhouse. It doesn't take much to put a few hols in the bottom with a scewer. I can't believe how many other people do so much of what I thought was just my quirky habits passed on from my mum who was a super scrimper/saver.0

I have done reading too!
To avoid all evil, to do good,
to purify the mind- that is the
teaching of the Buddhas.0 -
I went to a friends house and commented on the lovely "Pirex" serving dishes. It turns out that they were not the traditional glass dishes, but were the insert from old washing machines that had came to the end of their lives.0

IOn reading this, I think I have been OS all my life! If I am home on my own in the day, I don't flush the loo every time, I tip my baby's bath water onto my plants OR flush the loo with it, I tip a mug of water into the kettle when it is just me having a cup of tea! I already do loads of the things on here but have been inspired to try some others!0

This is not strictly OS but it occured to me that I dress with my wash load in mind
So, one week I wear mainly black tops & knickers & etc. the next I wear mainly white...this week has been a red week for me which is why I think I noticed.
I think it stems from when I first left home and my favourite red top always seemed to be lurking in the bottom of the wash basket on it's own - it would never have occurred to me to handwash it back then0 -
i find myself looking at "rubbish" from every angle before i dump it ... just incase i can use it for anything else... takes me ages to let go of the item, DD usually shouts MOM .... U CANNOT USE OLD WALLPAPER FOR ANYTHING THROW IT OUT

I may be the only one !!!
at the petrol pump I make sure that every last drop I have paid for goes into the tank by lifting and lowering the hose a couple of times as the loop holds at least a couple of tablespoons of fuel toooooo precious to waste.0 -

sophiesmum wrote:my teenage daughter is a terrible brand fiend. She insists she cant possibly use cheap nasty shampoo and conditioner on her hair, and insisted on chucking a particular (expensive brand in the trolley). I let her get away with this the once and over the past year have been refilling it with asda own brand stuff. I cant help sniggering to myself as she carries the shampoo and conditioner back and forth between her bedroom and bathroom so that us lesser mortals don't use up her "good " shampoo.....:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
