Hello Ive got a RE burger job booked for later in the week. I have not done these before - especially as I am vegetarian. I have read through all the notes and I am told that the one I am to visit has dining areas and toilets. I am asked one question on dining area and that is it. Does this mean I am able to get a take out meal which would be most preferably (I have someone else who can test the burger for me)? Any advice would be good please as Ive got a bit of a drive as its a motorway services.

edit - meant to say the motorway is extra busy at the moment due to everyone getting to the port to get a ferry hence I am a bit concerned it will be packed there and take me a long time.

I was wondering about this too - I don't think it specifies in the notes that you have to eat in, though I've only skimmed through them so may have missed that bit. I noticed mine is titled **Town name** - D/T... I wondered if the D/T meant Drive-through, but I'm fairly sure they don't have that at my local one. Hmmm... I thought the brief was surprisingly brief ;) for RE...

As an aside, did you notice the spelling mistake on the name of the burger? I assume it's a mistake, and we're not actually supposed to call it the wrong thing!
  • No, you have to actually eat the burger there. This visit doesn't suit a vegetarian as there is no vegetarian option to order. I wouldn't mess about and take it away as you have to stay in the restaurant for 15 minutes and observe the staff behaviour (floor show). You may very well be checked on CCTV by the manager when the restaurant receives their report. If you don't follow the brief exactly and take the job seriously, GAP will sack you.

Don't mean to sound harsh but that's just the way it is.
I think angel13 said it was an RE burger (not a gyp 1!)

It was an RE burger job though, not GAP :rotfl:

did everyone have a good weekend? I had to change dates around for a coffee visit and cancel two others that could not be rescheduled as stuck in all day saturday as boiler went wrong and letting agent arranged it without asking me :( bit disappointed especially as turns out because we have had tons of power cuts in the last few days here that the boiler is fine and just reacting to them!

then I had a tech supermarket visit yesterday - ones with the two sections. it was my first one of these and its a local supermarket thats always useless. the items i was supposed to enquiry about are not even out on display and the member of staff refused to recommend anything above £80 even though I kept saying I was interested in some others so that was rubbish. As for the phone shop first time endless queue, second time queued 20 minutes without any joy and popped back at the end and the poor man in front of me with four kids was still waiting and both members of staff had disappeared by them. he must have been so annoyed as he had been there 45 minutes by then! so anyhow i hope my report will count as checked notes and did not say wait a certain amount of time and if not served leave as the other ones I normally do do. I was glad to get home after that. Apart from that had a relaxing weekend creosoting fences with my son and making homemade soup etc. got a retail and coffee visit this afternoon and so far rest of the week just two phone calls and some more coffees so will be trying to get on with the fences and various tidying up. I have about a months jobs to get on with as well as work and uni course starts on the 1st so I could do with a rest!

thanks but its an RE burger job not GAP. GAP dont let you do burger or pizza jobs if you put in your profile that you are vegetarian and I dont work for them any longer anyway. I would not take a job that I could not do as if its food related I check there are things I can eat and if theres a query with the food side of things I always confirm before I go as sometimes you have to comment on taste as well as what the food looked like.

This scenario is not like that hence I was just checking if anyone else has done them before and if we need to eat in (does not say you cant have people with you) or if we can take away. If I can take away and motorway starts clearing cause of the airports/ports I can do it easily as have another job in area so I can do it on way home.

I'm doing one of these and looking at the questionnaire you definately have to order within the restaurant and check cleanliness etc.. doesn't seem to specify how long you have to spend in the restaurant but from the wording does rather indicate that you are suppose to sit in and eat the meal which is a meat dish...! Mine is also a drive thru but it states timings in queue until you receive your meal on a tray....:)

I was wondering about this too...

Missed the bit about you being veggie - I was wondering if you had to eat in as I have quite a busy day and would have liked to grab and run!! Got a burger brekkie for that day too and pizza for tea the day before... how fat am I going to be by the end of the week? :rotfl:

I'm having a fairly quiet month so far... haven't been able to do a great deal this last couple of weeks due to the school holidays anyway, and not got much lined up for the rest of the month. I'm not complaining though, as my house was beginning to suffer a little! Managed to give the house a really good clean yesterday, and got started on some DIY that we'd been putting off, so I can relax a bit now!

Nothing on till my pizza job Wednesday now, then the aforementioned burgers on Thursday, plus 2 x REACT petrol, supermarket audits Friday & Saturday... and I think that's it apart from a couple more pizzas!
