  • Hi cuckoo you are so like me i just randomly apply for loans and cc's knowing they will say no being scared in case they say yes and damaging my credit rating!!xx Do you love acting and singing also?

Lol, I do actually, and love watching cheesy musicals!!!! I work at a theatre school in the holidays but to be far - I'm not very good at it - Just the only one stupid enough to make a fool of myself!

Thanks for reading both of you!

  • I've been checking out my Mortgage and my fixed rate is due to come to an end in May, and as far as I can work out (if anyone knows how these things work - does it just automatically transfer to the Mortgage companys Standard Variable Rate) my payments should go down by about 90.00 per month. I don't really know how these things work - with regard to still paying what I'm paying now by way of overpayments etc so if anyone can advice me that would be great. But I'm sure I won't be able to get another Mortgage with a good rate because my credit history has been appalling the last 6 months or so.

Also just recieved a nice surprise of an envelope from my nan with 20.00 for me and 20.00 for each of the kids for easter. I'll buy them an egg and give them 5.00 each - and then use the rest for a day out to the fair over easter. (Is that bad - the money will still be going on them - just means they won't take it straight to the local petrol station and spend it on rubbish!) The 20.00 for me will go straight towards debts of course!

Sorted out a few bits to go on freecycle but local site is down tonight - have to remember to post them tomorrow. Hope everyones ok.

Lol, signed it twice - think I am going cuckoo - lol!!

I've just got rid of 2 boxes of books and a bin bag of clothes - I've tried to sell these before and didn't get anywhere, they've been driving me mad just sitting there so finally put them on freecycle - they're getting picked up tomorrow. Yay!!

Oh, got to find a recipe for bread and butter pudding, chat later.

  • On a high tonight!!! Wooohhhooooo!!!

Made a bread and butter pudding with littlun this afternoon as there was a cheap loaf that no one would eat, hubbie loved it - then cooked chilli, rice and tortilla's for dinner - double cooked so there's enough chilli to freeze for a whole meal another night - and I had some rice left so I am in the process of cooking rice pudding with that!! Feel like I've never had so much food in the house!! Amazing!!

Also bought all my easter egg's for less than a pound each this morning, arrived just as they were reducing them at Netto's and didn't even look at the more expensive one's in case I was tempted!!

    Yay!!!!

Hi cuckoo just read through your diary and you are seemimg very postive, its great to come on here and say exactly how you feel.
A note on the little friends you kids keep bringing home not sure if they are boys or girls but my DS always wore hair gel and never had a problem and the girls wore hairspray and it seemed to keep them at bay. ;)
As for the mortgage mine goes to .75 above base in september so its good to check it out i think they are all different, It may be worth a call because my mortgage company said they would let me book a rate 3 months before the end of my current deal.
Well done with the cooking i love batch cooking then it feels like i have a night off in the week when you just have to heat a meal up.
Mmmmmmmmm rice pudding its not on my diet but i could eat it if you have any spare.....

Hi CCL, love the thread name! Well done on keeping positive and on the savings you've already made.

I shop at Morrisons and have recently been trying some of their yellow label stuff.

I've tried the tinned spaghetti and I like it, especially at 14p per can! I've also tried the sliced peaches in light syrup (24p) they were lovely! Oh and I know this is really sad but I had some tinned potatoes which I eat with cheese, hmm lovely!

Also using the yellow label frozen veg and margarine type spread too. I've got some yellow label rice pudding but haven't tried that yet! I'll let you know when I do if I'm going to buy it again.

I think the beauty of buying these yellow label (tinned stuff anyway) food is that it's so cheap that if you try it and it's horrible, it's only going to be horrible once!

Oh almost forgot, yellow label ketchup. It's thick! Although it doesn't stay in it's original form in my house for long as I water it down with vinegar and add stuff to it like mixed herbs (or mint if I'm not careful which jar I pick up).

I think I've probably knocked about 25%-30% or more off my shopping bill by buying yellow label stuff

Keep up the good work CCL.

On it's way in a jiffy bag as we speak :D

Oh and thanks for the advice about the hairspray and gel - I'll give it a go.

I'll give the Mortgage company a call during the week.

  • Poosmate - i feel so honoured having you on my thread, lol - feel like i know you the amount of your posts I've read, not that I'm a stalker!!

The ketchup is good, the loo roll and kitchen rol's not bad and the ready salted crisps, chocolate wafer bars and cartons of orange or apple juice are all fine. We have them for treats in our house - can't remember the last time any of us had anything else.

  • Big challenge for me today - I work in a petrol station forecourt on a saturday but it's very temptong (both money and diet wise) to buy snacks, especcially as I'm allowed to eat when i'm working. So, I'm going to take a sandwich with me and a couple of cans of drink and cross my fingers that I've got the willpower not to buckle!!!
