  • If anyone cares i Have a fascinating development ( i say that but its not that exciting) Basically i called clubcard back and spoke to someone else and asked about the bargain chart - she told me that it is excluded BUT that there had been a glitch earlier in the week and tesco are just starting to sort it out so some stores may still be displaying the offer but it is not valid - I should go back to the store and see if they will honour the points.
I did that and after 30 minutes of trying to explain the issue to the CS lady - i convinced her to do a test scan of the normal chart and then the bargain chart and OBVIOUSLY the bargain chart didnt show the extra points the normal chart did! So she rushed away to get the manager - they quickly took all the yellow tags out and made some phone calls. After 20 minutes they came back with a duty manager and the first thing she said was
"I know you bought it to our attention BUT i will not be honouring the points for you - its just too much" OK i thought fine but can i at least return the cds " Unfortunately you cant we dont allow it"
at this point my law degree kicked in - I just went into misrepresentation, inducing customers and frustration of contract. BUT she wasnt relenting then i made it more human and said its underhand for them considering I as a customer pointed it out to them and none of their staff saw the HUGE exclusion clause on the signage.
FINALLY after me ranting (politely and elegantly might i add) she said she would make a phone call - she came back and then quickly thanked me for pointing out their mistake -sorry she couldnt honour the points but she WOULD refund me on the cds this time.
At one point she said "did you only buy the cds for the points" so i said "yes of course - thats my perogative - if you have offers to entice people then thats up to me. For example if i like persil but Bold is cheap today only - i buy 2 of them and sell one to my friend for a £1 profit -thats completely and utterly up to me and whether or not the moral aspect is included in the scenario its irrelevant. He gets a cheaper item and I make a tiny profit and you as a store make a sale we all win" She reluctantly agreed but said SOME people (no names) DO take advantage and ruin it for other people because they want it to be for everyone and not for the few who see it first - when i replied back saying that supermarkets with their price wars and (in some cases price fixing - milk anyone) and their advertisments and store layout etc they are in NO position to argue with me the values of a capitalist society - although she clearly got angry it got a few people who heard laughing!
The truth is its cut throat - im just GUTTED i didnt get more earlier in the week! GRRRRRR

I'm pleased with my haul. I usually miss out on these kind of glitches due to the remoteness (relatively speaking) of my location compared to city dwellers. Makes a change to do well. :D

I usually miss out on them by bad timing :( sometimes just by mins. lol
so am well pleased to have got some this time. :D

:T:T thanks to all ops for posting/sharing these great deals/glitches,giving us all a chance to gain. :T:T

Well we had a situation buying 2 more cd's earlyer today in our local store. And it really looks like tesco are digging there heels in the ground over the 500 point deal now. The budget chat (thats the 1 with starting at £3 going upto £9.50 odd) clearly on each and every cd title sel had the title of each cd plus the yellow backing offering chart cd's as 2 for 500points bonus. So we picked the 3cd love album (birthday prezzy for me mum) and a £3 Take That album (Beautifull World). Go get the other easter shopping then off to the self service.

No sign of the 500 points, which to see this a strange smile came by my face as I was looking for a reason to challenge the staff on the issue. I, for 1 minute will never believe there has not been a single checkout assistant or cs assistant in any of the tesco stores who has NOT been briefed on how to respond to customers on the issue. Asking self service assistant where the point are he says "they don't go on till the end of the month" us, "yes they do as the twice we have bought them before they are on the receipt right away".

Off to the cs desk we get taken, the chat went along the lines of, us: "can we have our 500 bonus points please they were not added at checkout" cs: "these albums are excluded they are budget chart titles" us "yes they are included as the sel with the albums title printed on says 500 bonus poins per 2 chart albums". She goes to check comes back and says "but these cd's are from the budget chart and the budget chart are excluded from the offer" us "they cant be as each and every chart title on the shelfs for that chart has the 500 bonus points offer printed right next to the albums title" cs: "that's because the offer is printed across the entire charts but only include the main chart" us: "but it's on the same printout that lists the cd title and not a tag that's been placed next to it so must be included". cs assistant goes and asks for the department manager. While waiting I cover my back by going to the isle and taking a pic of each sel for the albums we bought in case they tried to remove them while we were at the cs desk making our point. the manager comes, goes to the isle comes back a few minutes later and asks the cs assistant to put the point on manually. We got the receipt with the 500 points to prove we have them if they don't go on the card.

Seems they might be resorting to tricks in saying wait till the may statement as if they are not on then you will have passed the 1 month period in which you can claim the point via the receipt. Also by saying wait 48 hours etc, looks they are trying to put people off trying to claim the point when they don't show on the receipt.

Just stand firm and if the sel states the 500 point stick your ground and don't leave the store till you get them as otherwise the chances are you never will.

    Hello...

I got 4 cd's yesterday and did not get the points added on at the time of check out, I went the CS desk and was told that it was a clubcard deal and would be added in 5 to 10 days...

Today I called clubcard and was advised the offer was nothing to do with them, it was an in-store offer and the points need to be added at the time of the check out, if this does not happen then to go to CS who should add them, if this fails then to request a manager and who should be aware of the offer, if not get them to call head office who would advise.

I then called the store and they agreed to add my points when I go in to the store again and have kept my name in a book.

Get calling guys, dont miss out on your points.

Most staff at Customer Services Tesco will just tell you anything to get rid of you, in my opinion. They are the most incompetent lot of people, through either inadequate training or just sheer laziness, that I ever have to deal with. I'm very glad that I actually had a nice lady the other day who put my last lot of points on manually after they didn't show up. Saying that I haven't checked my on line points balance yet. Lol!

My husband bought 6 CDs and was assured by CS that the points would go on by May. I told him I thought he'd bought the wrong CDs (because they were filling the bare shelves with non-offer ones), but an SA had confirmed they were part of the offer. He went back to Tesco and the lady on CS told him that they were part of the offer and the points would show eventually (I'm not convinced), but that it was against Tesco policy to buy things just for the points so he couldn't have a refund anyway if that's why he'd bought them! And the points definitely haven't gone on.
