"Always some that ruin it for the rest" true some people go over the top but unfortunately what ruins it for everyone is the fact it is posted on MSE and then it is mailed out to millions of email addresses. Hundreds of thousands of people attempt to to take advantage of the offer, this then spooks the retailer or alerts the retailer to the glitch and so it is pulled or fixed.

Yep, some of us were very happily using MOC's every week (for years) to make life easier until Martin told the world about it and then you saw real greed as people printed off thousands of dog food coupons and mugged Tesco so badly that they had to change policy.

Regarding this current offer, I wouldn't rise to the bait zorber, some people just can't hide their jealousy! I already said I left a hundred in my local store for others, but the sad truth is people like mr motability would rather sit and gripe rather than PM me to ask where they were. Sadly those hundred discs I left for others have probably been boxed up and sent back now so nobody gets the points from them, but all's well provided Mr motability had his grizzle! :D

Sorry but I don't think that's correct. From a large retailer's perspective, if lots of people go to their stores and buy a few each, the odds are that those people having made the journey will spend elsewhere in the store. I normally spend at least £20 per visit to a supermarket even if I only went in to get a couple of small things because once I'm in there I think of other things I need. That's why shops use loss leaders - to get people in the door. The hit they take on the promotion is off-set by additional expenditure and getting customers in the door who might otherwise shop elsewhere. They care a lot about their market share.

That's a completely different concept from a small minority of people getting large amount of benefit from very little expenditure, who are probably not going to spend very much else if they've gone in there to buy dozens and dozens of CD's.

Talking of music media, you are beginning to sound like a stuck record, and not a very lovey dovey one at that. :(

So how does Tesco withdrawing hundreds of these CD's from sale fit in with your theory about it being some giant conspiracy by 'Mr T' to use the 'proles' to get rid of his excess stock? ;)

I don't want to argue with you because that really made me laugh last night after a very tough day so I really should be thanking you.

Look - I couldn't care less what you do. And frankly, I take everything everybody says on here with a huge pinch of salt because the vast majority of what people say on here is exaggeration, and trolling. I don't believe anything anybody says and I wouldn't get worked up about it even if I did.

If you're feeling defensive because you think that people are blaming you for buying hundreds of CD's, don't try and drag me into it. ;) Go and argue with the people who are actually giving you abuse.

What not correct about it?? every time MSE gets hold of one of these promotions it gets killed, thanks to MSE phoning up tescos it looks like they will be fixing the glitch on bargin chart where cds can be bought for £3. So MSE has spolit the promotion for every one who wanted cheap points.

Again i though this was the purpose of MSE to maximize the benifit to consumers for minimal spend!!!!

Ah, you knock my theory but although all the other bargain CD's now have NO POINTS (thanks to MSE), forever love is still on sale, still being bought and still has points on it. Explain that to me!

I'm glad I lightened your day, whatever you do, don't take me too seriously. ;)

Why would I feel defensive? As I said to someone else, it makes me laugh that they put so much effort into flaming me rather than PM'ing me asking me for the stores name. Go figure

I don't think it's correct because I've spent most of my career designing and coding the retail IT systems which flag up these things ;) I also spent some time training to be a buyer for a very large retailer.

If you want to believe all the things you're going on about - go ahead if it makes you feel better. I just don't think you're right but I can't be bothered getting into a discussion of the pros and cons of MSE.
  • I've been watching this thread for a few days now and I was determined not to drag myself to Tesco especially as its not really that close. But tonight I went up there as I needed other things.
The Forever Love Cd was nowhere to be seen and is no longer in the compilation chart.
I bought a couple of DVD's (Gruffalo & Peppa) for Easter gifts for my kids and got 500 points.
The CD's arent giving any points unless they are Chart CD's (and not the Bargain Charts), I bought a couple of cheapies (that I wanted anyway) and they didnt show on my receipt, the 500 points from the DVD's did however show.
The lady on the Entertainment Aisle was scurrying about removing and replacing lots of things on the shelf and her supervisor came to talk to her whilst I was nearby and asked to her to stay until the aisle was done (this was 10pm). I suspect orders from up high have been made to change the Tesco Charts and put a stop to the points stoozing!

I bought some bargain CD's at 7pm this evening and got points. Normally I'd think it would take a while for Tesco's technical department to fix the glitch given how rubbish they've been so far (as far as I know they still haven't fixed the bug with the promotion not showing at all on the old site despite saying it's a priority for them). But it depends on how much money they're losing on this problem I guess.

And I think it's more likely the reason it's still on sale in certain branches has more to do with lazy SA's than some even more complicated conspiracy theory. ;)

As long as you're happy with the things you do, I don't think you should let anybody on here make you feel defensive about anything. There are some lovely, helpful people on here, but others who I certainly wouldn't use as my moral compass :D

I'm new to this, and despite trying 3 tesco stores failed to find the FL cd! At one of the
Tesco stores I asked if they had any in stock & the SA smirked at me and said they'd be
back in stock in a few weeks. She then began gossiping with another SA so seemed aware of
the deal, and happy to see me miss out!
It made me feel like a criminal! But hey, if that's what makes her happy it's a small price

You win some you lose some, but anyway I wanted to thank everyone that takes the time to
Inform others of good deals like this!
Maybe I'll be able to take advantage of the 'next' time!:j
